What happens if I cancel my subscription?

One thing this thread doesn't really go into - Once you connect accounts into a family group, they can never be unconnected and regrouped. That means that whatever account was originally a family master account will always be the family master account, and whatever was a sub-account will always be a sub account.

This came up for me because my son set the accounts up originally, and being cute, he made himself the master account. I didn't realize it until some years later when that CC was stolen, and I had no access to the master account to deal with it. I ended up making a new account, and new wizards because regrouping was not possible.

In answer to the question above about why an account might be "locked", if his master account was on a subscription, and the CC charge was refused, perhaps due to a lost or stolen cc, or being over the limit, they will lock the account.

You'll lose nothing except the ability to travel most places. Items bought with crowns and xp/level won't be lost.

I'm a crown user, I buy all the way through Krok with crowns then subscribe. I make it through Marleybone and Mooshu and just get to Dragonspyre, then unsubscribe. Do I now need to buy all areas from Krok to DS to get back to where I was or just DS?

Did you read Professor Greyrose's message? Buying a subscription will not permanently unlock areas for you. Buying crowns and unlocking worlds and areas WILL in fact allow you to go there any time you want.

As I said, you just need to buy DragonSpyre with crowns.

I think you misread the post. It said that he got though Marleybone and Mooshu With his subscription He did not buy those worlds with crowns. So, he needs to A) Get a new Subscription, or B) Buy the areas with crowns.

This is not strictly true, if he only wishes to quest in Ds and go furrther he doesnt need to buy the other areas. He could buy DS and continue questing if he chooses. If he wished to be able to go back to the other worlds then yes he would have to buy those areas too. I know many people who just bought GH and vestrilund to be able to gold farm, or just bought aquila to farm gear while waiting to renew later etc.What he has to decide id if he needs to visit the other worlds right now or not and purchse accordingly. He could buy DS now then CL etc as he progreses and some point down the road go back and purchase the other worlds if he so chooses to.
