What happens if I cancel my subscription?

I am a level 50 Necro and am about to complete Dragonspyre, if I cancel my subscription I know I will not be able to access the majority of the areas in the game however, what becomes of the items I have found and/or bought with crowns? What becomes of my experience points and/or level?

      This from wizard101 support:

      Response (Mr. Lincoln)02/04/2009 05:25 PMGreetings,

If you cancel your subscription, your character will remain in tact, along with your items and experience points. You will not be able to access all of the areas you once did, however.

      You can't do ranked PvP.

To expand on Mr Lincoln's note:

If you unsubscribe, and your current subscription runs out, the next time you log in you will find yourself in Ravenwood. You will be able to access all of the Free to Play areas such as Unicorn Way, Triton Avenue and many more.

You will not lose any of the items you currently own, you will not lose any items you currently have in your storage. This applies to all items, whether you found them, bought them with gold, traded them for Arena Tickets, or purchased them with Crowns.

You will not lose any experience and your level will not drop.

At that time, if you wish to purchase individual areas with Crowns you can do so as you progress. Once you have purchased an area with Crowns, you can access it with any character on that account.

You -can- access Ranked Player vs Player for small Crowns amounts per duel.

What about access to your new house? If you can not access mooshu and you home is there can you still go to your home? And if you can't what about all the items there, will they still be there when you use crowns to get back to mooshu?

No Balance damage specific blades, traps, spears, prisms, native boosts, damage bubbles or even shields.
So why do mobs and bosses have built in Balance shields?

Wow this was never answered and it's been so long! I'd like to know the answer to this as well.

      And here's another scenario:
I'm a crown user, I buy all the way through Krok with crowns then subscribe. I make it through Marleybone and Mooshu and just get to Dragonspyre, then unsubscribe. Do I now need to buy all areas from Krok to DS to get back to where I was or just DS?

Re: What happens if I cancel my subscription?

I have a bit of an add on question.

I am going to be moving soon. I won't have the internet for a while Months maybe. I don't know.

In Diablo 2 and Guild Wars I have to log in every so often even if I don't play to keep all my stuff.

I would like to renew my subscription again once I get the net (I will be staying with relatives and they have no net and I am going to have to get my own job and place which is why it might be a while) but it might he a bit.

Whats the story with this sort of situations.

I might be able to get to the site on occasion to log in to my account to show I am active but not sure about game play or not.

I would love to go to a coffee shop and play on occasion but I might not be able to afford coffee for a while either so.

Re: What happens if I cancel my subscription?

To benefit those needing adequate info on subscription issues:

      History/Background:

I had a family account (2 people -- 1 main and 1 sub -- both adults). I wanted to unsubscribe and put both the main account and the sub account as two separate individual trial accounts with both buying crowns to open areas. This would give each person control of their individual account.

I tried for 1 - 2 weeks with several back and forth messages to KI before unsubscribing to find out how to unsubscribe, what would happen to our accounts, and how our characters and items would be affected. I got several "you won't lose anything and will just have to buy areas" messages but I did not get any real answers. The last message to me was that if I sent in the last four digits of my credit card then they would help me do it (I was leary of that when all I wanted was direct meaningful answers so I just didn't reply back on the subject anymore). So I just took the unsubscription plunge come what may.

I was on a subscription family account and then I unsubscribed both the main account and the sub account and let my family subscription run out. We both could still play the subscribed account (until the midnight of the day before it states the subscription will run out) after hitting the unsubscribe button (one per person) on my account page (each main and sub account should say that it will renew as a trial account).

      What happens to your account:

      - Both accounts were now on individual trial accounts and still linked together on the same account page (but still same account/both main and sub user names stayed the same/both main and sub passwords stayed the same/both main and sub retained their same logins/etc)

      - If everyone on your account unsubscribes: If you are the head person on a family account all individuals will be placed on individual trial accounts but still be linked and on the same account page with the main/head person in control of the account page

      - If only you (as head person) unsubscribe and it was a family account: then all others under you that have not unsubscribed will be put on regular accounts (more expensive) but still be listed under you on your account page

      - I wasn't able to get separate accounts for any other sub account person under me -- all I could do is to hit the unsubscribe button by their name but not cancel their sub account entirely -- maybe you have to totally delete that person's characters from within the game? But you would also lose everything that way on their account so I did not test that -- plus they would have to be the one to sign into their account that is linked to your account page and do it themselves)

      - Maybe it is not possible to separate individuals from off a family account once one has been established (I did ask KI this but never recieved an answer on it, so we didn't do it and still don't know the answer)

Once both main and sub subscriptions ran out (ran out on same day) we then checked what we had and where we could go before we bought any crowns:

      - We could go to all free areas only (message to subscribe or buy areas with crowns came up on all paid areas)
      - We could still go to our houses and our houses had all items still intact just as it was when we were on the family subscription
      - Both our six wizards each were intact with everything they had just as it was when we were on subscription
      - Everything in our storage areas (bank/backpack/shared/attic) were still there
      - Our PvP statuses and any arena tickets and items were still there
      - All our character levels and stats were the same

So, basically you will keep everything and still be linked together but on separate individual accounts. You will have to either re-subscribe or buy the areas with crowns per each account to get access to them. You will each have to pay for the PvP rank arena. The practice arena is still free but the practice arena does not rank your character or give you tickets to buy arena items. Some crown items do drop from bosses however and you can still buy matches with crowns per fight or per arena day pass.

If your character had not had access to a particular area then you will still have to progress your characters up to each area to buy each area with crowns (try to enter area/message pops up to subscribe or buy with crowns per area).

If your character already had progressed and accessed that area, then you will have immediate access to the area once you pay for that area with crowns (or subscribe). Your progress you had made with each character will not be lost and you can just run to each area you already opened once you buy it. You can do this no matter where you had progessed to in the game.

Or you could re-subscribe and get all areas opened again (still have to progress your character up to each area to enter) if you do not want to go the buy with crowns route.

Once you buy an area with crowns (or subscribe/all areas) then that area will be open for all six of your characters for one account. Each account, main, individual, or sub, does need to be individually paid for. So if you have one main account and one sub account under it then you would need to pay for two accounts. Or, if you had two individual accounts then you would need to pay for two accounts.

The only advantage to getting a family account is to save a little on both accounts (and parental control) but then it appears they will be forever linked together even after your "child" is grown to adulthood. So if you don't need parental control or if the sub account people are adults (even if they are your family) then it might be wise to go with a pay with crowns separate account (or a separate cheaper promotional yearly account) so that each individual will have control over their own accounts without having to delete all their characters just to separate the family account (if account separation is possible after setting up a family account). I don't believe that you can move a sub account to another family sub account either but I haven't fully recieved an answer to that question. If I understand it right, once you create any account then that individual's personal information is linked to that username and is then connected to that account and will stay linked forever that way. But I would have to get an detailed and meaningful answer from KI to confirm this.

I do not know what happens (credit wise) if you have a mix of already bought areas with crowns and now you are subscribing. Good luck getting your answer and please post on this thread if you do get a meaningful answer. It would be interesting to know.

We are now both on a linked account page with individual trial accounts. We have both just bought enough crowns to unlock all areas of the game and have done so. Maybe in the future we will be able to separate our two accounts off the one account page without losing our characters if it is possible. But in the meantime, we are enjoying both our accounts with all areas bought with crowns. We do have to now pay for the PvP arena per fight or day pass which is a bummer but I think I like the buy with crowns option more.

Thank you KI for allowing us to keep all our wizards and items and transfer from a subscription accounts to a buy with crowns accounts

If your a crown player, you loose nothing when you stop playing unlike the poor subscriber who basically looses everything until they pay again BOO HOO. Kinda stinks to be a subscriber in this case .
