      Pirate101: Plunder Hunt

Been a while since I posted, fellows. I know this isn't exactly Wizard related, but this has caught my attention and I need to let you all know.

It has come to my attention that, during tomorrow's KI Live, there will be an announcement for a new mobile game by the name of Pirate101: Plunder Hunt. This game has just been released, uses the Pirate101 IP and was developed by a small company partnered with Kingsisle. (Not by Kingsisle themselves)

At first this may seem like good news. However, it has also come to my attention that Pirate101: Plunder Hunt contains several practices that I and others see as harmful and not in the spirit of the Kingsisle company or community. These practices include:

      • The sharing of your phone's IP address, generally seen as sensitive information, with Gamigo upon playing the game.
      • The fact that this game is a near-exact duplicate of a similar pirate-related game also released by Gamigo approximately a week ago.
      • Asset-flipping (The use of Pirate101 assets, such as character models, within the game), and little to no original models or animations that aren't also present in this game's earlier clone.
      • Pay-to-win tactics. (i.e.: Reskins of characters that give stat bonuses you otherwise wouldn't get)
      • Glitched/buggy character models that make this game feel incomplete.
      • Microtransactions
      • Explicit/Mature Ads (There is confirmation this is unintentional)

I, personally, cannot help but see this as harmful to the Pirate101 brand and a slap in the face to the amazingly patient Pirate101 community and the Kingsisle community as a whole. I know this was made by individuals other than Kingsisle, but whoever made it clearly misunderstood what the Kingsisle community values.

In regards to Pirate101: Plunder Hunt, I must say, DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME. Do not even install it. It is not worth your time.

      Re: Pirate101: Plunder Hunt

So this is where our money is going lol I would say more but honestly, this is exactly what I would expect from Gamigo, how they would treat the Pirate101's good name and how they would create a mobile game. I really don't know a lot about the Pirate101 community but for how small I imagine it is, I've got some hopes your message is shared and known over there. I don't suppose this Pirate101 game will be downloaded much at all (or at least in comparison to Grub Guardian did to the W101 Community).

The blatant exploitation of Gamigo is something I don't think is talked sufficient enough but at the same time, I'm not asking to be frustrated for a company I cannot change nor cares for their community.

Signature created by Expelliarmus in Blue Nouveau Designs, thanks!

Oh, believe me, they know. You should have SEEN the Pirate101 Discord last night; I had to tear myself away because the backlash to this was explosive. (I pity the KI devs and moderators who had to see all that)

Still doesn't change the fact that Plunder Hunt doesn't represent the values of the company or the community and needs you to give Gamigo your IP address prior to even playing. Nuh-uh. Not doing that. Even KI's older failed mobile games had some actual spirit to them. (RIP EverClicker)

I honestly kind of digged EverClicker, even though I stopped playing it after a while.
