Discover Wizard101 Wallaru: Behind the Teasers and Into the Lore of the Upcoming World

A new world, Wizard101 Wallaru, was introduced as the final destination in this arc for us wizards to play. The storyline in the recent arc will culminate in this unique realm. On August 30, 2023, the official Wizard101 website released captivating teasers of Wallaru, featuring several pictures that captured a lot of young wizards' interests. Kangaroos, Trees, and Ranch were among the elements presented.

Australian-Inspired Theme and Creatures

As we all saw it, It has an outback desert theme and wizards saw it as an Australian-themed world as animals that can be found in Australia are also included in the story. Animals such as Kangaroos and Koalas were mentioned. The name of the world Wallaru, was connected to a real-life type of Kangaroo that lives in the country of Australia.

If you haven't noticed, The New World Wallaru was first mentioned by the Balance Scholar located at the Arcanum, Jaki Whisperwind. In the storyline quest, it was stated that Wallaru was the hometown of the Didgeri Dragon. They also mentioned fragments of the photos of Wallaru can be seen in the Hall of Theurgy, located at the Panopticon where Life Scholar, Zander is the professor.




Did you know? They believe that Professor Zander originated from Wallaru several years before he came to Arcanum. It is said that this is where he grew up for several years in the tutelage of Wallaruvian Shaman learning all mastery of Life before leaving to pursue greater power and knowledge.



Zander also appeared in the pre-quest to wallaru "Crinky Cyrus" from Sandiago in last test realm update.



Unfolding Story and Upcoming Challenges

Do you remember battling the Borealis Titan and the Rat in Polaris? While the awakening of the Borealis Titan by the Rat was happening, It was rumored that Wallaru rose among the Dragonhorn Order and that the famous Didgeri Dragon had re-emerged in Wallaru.

When Dasein rejected Novus and its local world powers, the Wizards were summoned to the Arcanum by the life scholar, Zander to notify them of his plan to evade Dasein?s mental defenses and stop him before he can cause any more harm to the Spiral by returning to his true form and causing a more larger disagreement.

Zander told the Wizard to go to Sandiago, who is located at the Caravan in Mirage as their guide to navigate the "unseen wilderness" of Wallaru. Diving deeper into the history of Wallaru, the ancient Kroks found Wallaru and tried to seize it so that they could include it as one of their expansive empires, little did they know that it is the homeworld of the Manders.

My Wallaru Walkabout: My First Step...

Having received my promotional World Key in a box of Nana Pops, I made my way to the quaint and rustic city of Hope Springs. On one side of me was the sea; on the other a vast stretch of sand; and in between: a town full of friendly locals eager to help me find my way.



Wallaru is home to Koalas and Roo-folk, who have lived together so long they barely even notice any differences. They acted as my guides on my Walkabout into the wilderness.

Our first stop, though, was supplies. Can't venture into the Outback without ample water, food and weaponry; and I have to admit, when my guides handed me a boomerang, the first thing I did was try to cast a spell with it. They were quite amused. I was not living up to Wizard City's increasingly dubious reputation.



We've all heard the stories of the graduate so legendary they don't even need a name; when you whisper: 'The Wizard,' the whole Spiral knows who you mean. They stomped the Kroks, they thwarted Meowiarty, they felled a Titan, and possibly routed some trash monsters. Not bad for someone who got their start fetching laundry.

But if you listen closely - and to the right people - you'll learn there's a darker side to The Wizard. They're said to have spread the forbidden Shadow Magic to the Spiral and danced on the comet that still rains upon Azteca. They were also present for revolutions on both Polaris and Karamelle. These may all be rumors, but it's enough to make the Spiral wary whenever a student of Ravenwood crosses their threshold.

Anyway, my clumsiness with the boomerang was enough to prove I was not The Wizard and I was going to need all the help I could get when I ventured into the dangerous Outback ...

I love this! It gives us a mental starting point for the next world in such a fun story format.

The one for Lemuria was nice, but this is (IMO) so much better. I can't wait for the next "installment".

Side observation: I would LOVE getting a pet Koala or Wallaby.

Optimistically curious but I'm still holding g my breathe. I really hope they emphasize the darker element of the storyline but balance the go-lucky characters that they seem to be introducing. I think lighter themes should be set aside for side worlds.

It's a difficult balance for sure, but there have been too many times when the game gets so "dark" it stopped being fun. The need for an occasional "light at the end of the tunnel" or a breather from all the heavy stuff can not be understated.

My Wallaru Walkabout: There and Outback Again

"I need some water."

That was the first thing I said when I stepped into the Outback -- an arid expanse that covers most of Wallaru.

My guides couldn't help but laugh.

"Don't we all, mate?" they said.

Water holds a special place in this world's history and culture. But not just regular water, no, a variably colored substance they call "Dream Water". Once Wallaru's primary draw, Dream Water is said to be literally the substance of dreams and it can incept great ideas and ambitions. Dream Water has inspired the inventors of Marleybone, the artists of Valencia, and the ever-morose writers of the Walrusk Empire. It showed warmongers the value of peace and alchemists impossible new concoctions.

But to reach that water, to earn that insight, one must walk. And so I did. For miles and miles. Through heat and sand, through hours and exhaustion. I was bitten by at least three different poisonous things -- one of which was a plant -- but fortunately, my guides carried an array of antidotes.

And then -- after ordeals, and sun, and weariness - we found it: an oasis in the desert, glimmering pink, with memories floating out like bubbles?

But then a jolt to the back of my head dispelled this vision, revealing only empty desert. It was all a mirage. It wasn?t Dream Water I found there, no -- as my panicked guides told me:

"IT'S BUNYIPS!"

Did Boris Tallstaff survive the Bunyips?

My Wallaru Walkabout: Nope!

Given Wallaru’s relative isolation from the Spiral, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the lifeforms here are… well, unique. From the Roos to the Wombats to the sharks I’ve already mentioned – every living thing here is unusual to say the least, terrifying to say the most. Some creatures are even said to be born straight from dreams, literally the stuff of nightmares come to life. None are worse than the Bunyip… at least that I’ve seen… and I was too busy screaming to really interview anyone.

Whatever you think a Bunyip is, you’re wrong. It’s a monster! A hissing beast with a gaze that can pierce your soul and needle teeth that can pierce your soul. Everything about it pierces souls! And there was a whole misery of them chasing us (Note: a group of Bunyips is called a misery). We ran back to Hope Springs as fast as we could, but these things slithered and screeched right after us.

If it wasn’t for the helpful Drover, we’d have never made it. He pulled up in his truck, kicked the lead Bunyip right in the head and scared the beasties off back into the haze of the arid sun.

Needless to say, I wasn’t about to try that again. Bunyips aren’t the only thing out there. Locals tell tales of bears and devils and serpents and horrors. And in their dreams, there is something darker, something new, something croaking a grim and childish song.

Yeah, so I stayed in the city after that, went shopping, checked out a show in the Juggernaut Crab Theater. And so ended “My Wallaru Walkabout.”

All-in-all, I’d say it was a great trip. Solid 3 out of 5. Fun place to visit if you don’t get eaten.

I need the mobs to be so scary that I get nightmares and the bosses even scarier so much that I wouldn't even dare to sleep in the first place. Hopefully that's what we get!

I also really like how they've been doing Wallaru teasers, with Boris Tallstaff. Gives him a bit more characterization as well. I hope the world is as fun (and scary) as he makes it out to be.
