Re: Should we be allowed to remove side quests?

I wouldn't mind being able to remove side quests. I know it can be overwhelming to most and sometimes it can discourage them to actually work on quests. I personally don't mind side quests since I used to do all of them if not most of them, but I can definitely see why some people would like it being an option.

Would it be nice? Maybe. Will it happen? No, at least not any time soon. From Prof. Greyrose and Prospector Zeke on the main message boards:

We cannot add an option to 'delete quest' because the moment we do, players will cry out about not being able to find the character that gave them the quest they just deleted.
Just finish the quests in your Journal, it's the only way to open up new ones.

When you're given an assignment in school, if you don't do it, you fail.
When you're given an assignment in Wizard101, you have the option to complete the assignment at any time in the future, but you must still complete it.
Just complete the assignments you are given, it is the only way you will be able to progress through the story of the Spiral.

There's a very good reason to NOT have a Delete Quest button. As soon as we add a Delete Quest button, players will delete quests rather than finish them, and we will be flooded with customer support tickets stating "I deleted a quest, how do I get it back?"

You have the option on side quests to 'Decline' a quest. If you take the quest, you are expected to complete it.

Here's a perfect example of why we do not allow the deletion of quests that you have accepted.

If you're not strong enough to complete it with your current character, hop over to Grizzleheim and get some experience and levels then tackle the quest again.

We will not be adding the ability to delete/drop a quest once you have accepted it.

Wasn't that post made several years ago? I know the argument against the ability to remove Quests is weak in comparison to the efforts exercised to have the capability though so....

It was, specifically in 2010-12, but unless I'm mistaken it's safe to assume their stance is the same today. That aside considering the issues some people have with KI support do we really want them to spend time on people who suddenly decided they wanted the side quest they deleted back as opposed to more serious issues like account safety or payment problems?

Re: Should we be allowed to remove side quests?

A few side quests have been sitting in my spellbook for maybe 5 years now. I accepted them with the intention of completing them one day, but never found the motivation. I would not miss them if they disappeared.

I'm with Allison that if the quest is truly hidden, it's good enough for me. In my mind, that's as good as deleting it because there's no chance I'll pick it up again.

The argument may seem weak to those who are in favor of removing Quests, but if it is coming from the official channels of the game developers, I would suggest that they have more experience and information regarding what is possible in this regard.

99% of these side quests are extremely easy to remove by completing them, taking only a bit of a player's time. They may be a bit annoying, but Programming and Support cost money that is better used elsewhere.
