Wiki Upgrade Discussion

I would like to voice a strong opinion against this. It feels extremely unnatural to house the most important info-box on the right side of the screen. Others in my guild have shared this sentiment as well - I would rather have a few spells misaligned than compromise the site's natural readability.

While I strongly disagree with this change, I also want to thank the team for their hard work during this otherwise fantastic upgrade.

The infobox being moved to the right wasn't just to fix a single wrapping issue. It's actually an idea that stems from Wikipedia. Essentially, the most "important" content that people might want to see is the description & cheat information of the fight, before seeing the picture of the Creature. However, unlike Wikipedia, our "infobox content" might be considered more important, as it shows the Creature's HP/stats/minion as well.

This same idea could also be applied to Pet/Jewel pages, where you might want to know a description of the pet, the cards, and the stats/talents, before a picture of the pet/jewel or it's tradeable status.

We're still testing things here, along with making sure that our pages look good on both Desktop and Mobile. Think of this as sort of a "trial run". Thanks for letting us know

With this particular issue, I was made aware of it almost immediately on some pages. The plan is to eventually switch all of these infoboxes that normally float on the left to instead float on the right. This fixes the weird wrapping with the cast list. Here is an example using Baba Yaga again:

I will likely hold off on this change for now until we can get to a point where we can switch every infobox from floating on the left to floating on the right all at once. And I'll apologize ahead of time - I know this is inconvenient, but I'm figuring that it's better than having some infoboxes on the left and some on the right...

Why not cheat a little and write a new template for an "invisible panel" that automatically wraps any spell image that intersects a given horizontal pixel width down to the beginning of the next row? I can see the utility of such a template expanding beyond spells too.

I had been using Dark Mode since the wiki upgrade began, but recently when the Forums were moved, I was switched to Light Mode, so I've been using that for a few days now. Today, I realized that - to my eyes - the new orange-y font color for links in Light Mode is very close to the red for "redlinks," especially if I've clicked the redlink to verify that the page doesn't exist yet.

In Dark Mode, the difference is much more apparent, as the redlink stays red even after clicking and returning.

The "Advanced" tab on the search results bar is helpful, but I'd prefer either "Content Pages" or "Everything" to be the default view. For anyone just trying to do a quick search, it's a little awkward having to scroll down below all of those filter options to see the page results.

I just fished up a pet from a Chest in the Fantastic Voyage Expedition, and I noticed that the pet page doesn't show the Fishing Chest Locations, even though the code can be seen when Editing the page.

As the wiki is receiving an update, I am again petitioning 'dialogue included in quest' categories for NPC or something to that effect. The first NPC to come to mind is Mycin Frosthammer, who, while is not a quest ender or starter, still has dialogue included in quests. This information would be helpful to have for those of us who are trying to read up on lore.

I *am* willing to put in the work to help organize and edit the wiki en masse as long as this is an option, as my only other alternative is starting up the absolutely agonizing task of transcribing all of Wizard101's dialogue; which is what I'm looking at doing if I can't get this petition going ^^'

I could see something like adding a flag / field in a quest's thing to list out NPC's that talk in this particular wall, that could (potentially) auto populate the NPC's field on the other side for a bit more automation.

We've finally gotten chest and fishing chest reward categories for locations; really hoping we can get something like this for NPCs to make this wiki more lore friendly for lore buffs.

Is this close to what you are looking for? The dialogue isn't included on the NPC page, but it is on the quest page here.

As for adding this to NPC pages, this would require a bit more organization that we haven't built in yet. I will add this to my list of to-dos!
