Hi everyone!

Thank you for your patience during our work on upgrading the Wizard101 Central wiki site.

As you start to explore the changes on the site, if you notice anything that looks off, something that could be better/clearer, or may now be broken, please post about it in this thread. Including screenshots or a link to the page affected would be much appreciated!

The category labels are almost invisible against the dark theme's background color.

Now, you could replace the color with one that's visible in both light mode and dark mode, but wouldn't it be cool if the Wiki's codebase had a general template that changed the text's color depending on the theme on the user's end?

Big changes coming to Wizard101 Central

On my reply in Post #26 here, I posted an update showing the "yellow" Sun Icon in the upper right corner that will be used to switch between day/night mode (light/dark mode).

I have noticed a few areas that do not play will with dark mode.

The semantic search page:

(Side note- as somebody who uses this tool often, I do miss seeing it on the sidebar! Maybe throw it under tools?)

The browse properties page:
(This one isn't as bad, text is still readable but certainly not all that pleasing on the eyes)

For example, I believe this color scheme would be much better in both instances:


Lastly, I noticed a very minor issue with the background. The inside border on the left-hand side extends further than it should both on the top and bottom of the page (I'm really, really nitpicking with this one):


And just to state the obvious, what an enormous upgrade. Thank y'all for your continued support.

I know this probably won't happen due to limitations, but I wish the search bar at the top didn't require me to type like Creature:Lost Soul instead of just Lost Soul and have it redirect to the creature of that name, similar to how TCRF or Bulbapedia does it. I also preferred the old sidebar layout where you could mouse over to different selections, like I could mouse over spells and choose ice spells. Now it requires multiple clicks. I'm sure though that this could be updated and changed in time though.

I still love how it's coming out so far though.

We are aware of some places not meshing well with dark mode, like the properties pages that you mentioned, and are looking at what colours we can choose to improve readability. We do have the ability to choose different colours for light and dark mode, so it's just about finding what complements the colour schemes the best

The old sidebar system we used unfortunately isn't supported anymore on the new version we have upgraded to, so we are looking at ways to add back in the useful parts of the sidebar without overloading it too much. The current system doesn't allow for the menus that expand upon hover (from my simple testing), so we may either make use of Basic pages to contain all the links, or perhaps look for alternative sidebar extensions that can replicate what we had previously.

We are aware that this is an issue, and are looking at other search extensions that can account for our namespaces

First off, I have to say CONGRATULATIONS! The new loading speed is amazing, and I am definitely impressed with night mode.

One small suggestion, having uploaded a few files this morning -- the "Watch this file" box is selected by default. I'd rather it not be, as I'll have to remember to uncheck it. If it's a technical thing, no biggie.

I think the Watchlist settings can be changed from the tab in the upper bar --> Preferences --> Watchlist:
Just uncheck the box in the last row.

Hiya, when I type lost soul, the creature link was the first result. It's not showing as you type like your example....yet - but it seems functional as you described.

I did as well and we will do something with it - the current menu is the default one.

I'm going to try and make it so it's not defaulting to watch at all. *edit - should be set now*
