9/11 Ceremony 2023

Hello and welcome to the thread for the 2023 9/11 Ceremony. This is an event I try to host every year to honor of all those who lost their lives on that tragic day, and every year it was a big success and got a lot of positive feedback as well (thanks to all of you for that by the way, I really appreciate it). The Premise

The premise of this ceremony is to honor all of those who lost their lives on that fateful day, and to remind everyone that they'll still remain in our hearts for generations to come. It's also to honor all of those first responders who helped save a ton of additional lives as well.

What We'll Do

What we'll do is march around Wizard City on foot, starting from Golem Court, and eventually ending in in my Forested Mansion house, where we'll give speeches and thoughts on the Ceremony and also the actual day/event that occurred all of those years ago as well. We'll be doing this in realm Seraph.

The Path

Golem Court -> The Fairegrounds -> The Commons -> Ravenwood -> Pet Pavilion -> Unicorn Way -> Hedge Maze -> Nightside -> Shopping District -> Olde Town -> Triton Avenue -> Haunted Cave -> Forested Mansion/Royal Playhouse.
The reason it's just the free-to-play areas is so that more people can attend and participate in every major aspect of the event for longer than they could otherwise.

Rules

1. Mounts are forbidden in this event, with the only exception being if you get lost from the group & need to catch up, but you must dismount once you’ve done so (don’t use this as an excuse to continue using your mount during the event).
   
2. For outfits dressing in all Black or White at least for the Base is preferred. The Trim can be any color you want, though I would prefer if it was a dark or light color like Dark Purple or Grey for example.
   
3. For pets I would like it to be something that represents Life and Remembrance like a Seraph, North Wind Lion or Celestial Dragon for example. Wands and badges follow this same rule (i.e. no Undead-like wands or badges like the Cursed Staff, Hoodoo Wand, Undead Hunter or The Nefarious 6th for example).
   
4. No rude, mean or otherwise disrespectful behavior.
   
5. All standard rules apply (you may say your community name in-game though, as I don’t see a problem with that).
   
6. Stay with the group as much as you can.
   
7. Listen to me and my Helpers, though helpers aren’t allowed to abuse their position to bully and/or harass other players.
   
8. Anyone can come to this event regardless if they have an account on a particular social media site. If they don’t have an account there and/or are just unaware of this event in general then just make sure that they’re aware of the rules ahead of time.
   
9. If some of us get caught in a battle then we wait until they’re done (this was a problem for the first year where some of us got caught and the rest of the group went on ahead, causing confusion).
   
10. You must have access to each of the areas in the path(s).
    
11. At least have Text Chat so you can hear what everyone is saying.
    
12. If you would like to speak then please say so so I can add you to the Guest Speakers list, and be sure to include your character name as well. This way it’s all organized as to who speaks and who doesn’t. Having at least Text Chat is a requirement to be a Guest Speaker.

Why Am I Hosting This?

The reason I'm hosting this is to not only honor the fallen, but also remind everyone that even though they're gone from this world physically, they shall never be gone spiritually from our hearts and minds.

Extra Notes

Like every year I do not mean any disrespect to anyone by hosting this event. I only mean to honor the fallen and to deliver the message I stated above.

I also will need some volunteers to help me with keeping everything under control; about 2-3 or so Helpers should be enough for this, so if you're interested in helping me out, either post here or send me a VM or a PM.

For Guest Speakers, they will go up to the podium and say a few words about the date to the crowd. Once they're done, if there's still enough time left (and if people aren't getting too impatient about it as well), then we'll see if non-registered Guest Speakers can come up to the podium and speak. Send me a VM, PM or post here if you're interested in becoming a Guest Speaker for this event.

The end of the event is being hosted at my house so that everything can be controlled better. Having it in a public location is nice and all but it’s too easy for trolls to come in and just ruin everything. By having this hosted in my house I can help limit that as best I can by ultimately kicking people who try to act up.

I know some might think I'm being disrespectful by hosting this kind of event, but I'm honestly not trying to be. I just mean to honor all of those who gave up their lives trying to protect us during that fateful day and to also remind everyone that they'll always be in our hearts and minds forever.

Also, if you'd like to take pictures and/or videos of this event, then please feel free to do so as well. Just make sure you credit me for this event if you use them elsewhere.

It is a great way to get the Wizard101 Central Community involved. I hope to be able to attend and take some ingame screenshots of the Event and the participants, which I plan to post on this thread.

First...

Special hugs of gratitude for doing this each year. This is something that I feel is very important lest we forget or become numb to what happened. It also is an opportunity for the generation born after this horrible event to hear from those of us who remember it directly.

Even as I write this I am getting chocked up at the horrid memories of watching the entire event unfold shake me to the core. For those who "weren't around", take a few moments and watch the videos of the event, then read the details that "explain" what happened...it is something we must never forget and shows why we just can't become numb to violence and hate.

Seth, if anyone, ANYONE gives you any "flack" for holding this event just ignore them and chalk it up to sheer ignorance; and always remember there are so very many of us who are grateful for your efforts each year.

While I did not attend prior 9/11 ceremonies, I am confident I will make it to this one. I felt like I missed out previously. At least I have a shot attending now. Thank you Seth (Flash) for hosting these ceremonies. I respect you taking the time + effort doing them . You mean well. I definitely see you hosting through pure intentions rather than disrespect. I hope others could see as well.

As a Muslim American first generation, those cowards who disrupted innocent lives forever remained shunned. 9/11 affected media perception and rapid discrimination worsened afterwards. Alluding Muslims to certain targetted unfairly grouping, thinking all are bad which couldn't be farther from the truth . I am Pakistani, so my family concerns grew possibly being affected by racial attacks like other Muslims and brown people had been subjected to. Even Sikhs got targeted when certain people thought they were Muslim. Hate crimes increased and public safety no doubt became more concerns. The country and the world was not the same afterwards. National security airport checks were starting to get commonplace different measures put in place. 9/11 caused more anti-Muslim propaganda.

Sorry if I rambled on. Mods, Willow I hope I did not break the rules. I tried my best not going into the politics. Giving just a brief history .


May the lives and brave heroes never be forgotten. I was only one year old when 9/11 shook up the entire world but lives lost & those who sacrificed their lives always stay remembered.

Thank you to all who showed up to this years 9/11 Ceremony. Though we got into 2 fights near the end the event went off without a hitch. Best of all for the first time we had no trolls attending. Below are some photos I took, and I'll try to have the recording of the event up soon. Thanks again and I hope to see you for this event next year as well.
