How come we're missing so many tapestries?

I was making a Gold Key Boss Tapestry Collection in the Central Guild Hall but after I did the Tapestry for Aquila Gardens (for the Lady StoneGaze Key Boss), I noticed there wasn't a Tapestry to Science Center (for the Drowned Dan Key Boss) or a Tapestry to the Atheneum (for the LoreMagus Key Boss) or a Tapestry to Three Points (for the Ixcac CursedWing Key Boss) or a Tapestry for the Cave of Solitude (for the Takanobu the Masterless Key Boss). These are just some notable examples of Tapestries that would be incredibly useful yet for whatever reason do not exist. And it's even more unusual because there's tapestries for other areas in the same world so it's like pieces of the puzzle were intentionally left out...

After so many years too, why are we still missing so many Tapestries?

And while we're on the subject, why aren't there new Tapestries for Lemuria or Novus?

Re: How come we're missing so many tapestries?

Many places across the spiral in all arcs of the storyline need far more tapestries. However as we have all mentioned 1 million times over crafting has lost its way and become the antithesis of way we enjoyed doing it in the first place. Today's crafting involves endless battling with bosses or doing dungeons, taking specifically large amounts of time to get what we need. Where as in the past we can be doing other activities in the game like gardening or questing, slowly accruing most of what you need until you're ready. Essentially you were having fun doing several activities as you achieved your crafting goals.

Take the Polaris tapestry as a good example when crafting came back from its sabbatical. The original recipe had you farming the secret cave in Empyrea, for a ridiculous amount of squid ink needed for the recipe, for a tapestry several worlds before. It's a ridiculous chore and that was changed. And now it's even more futile because now you need a stone key for each run, then you've got to farm Omen over and over and over until you get that one item that isn't available anywhere else. Even if you didn't need a stone key you could be farming there for months.

I don't think there's any point in asking for new crafted recipes for tapestries or anything else really, until there is a change in thinking from the devs. Which lets be honest isn't going to happen as a prime example just see the Novis gear. Which wouldn't be so bad if you only have one wizard but when you have to you farm it for 12 wizards, the amount of time is staggering and just isn't even worth trying for, a long unfulfilling painful grind.

Re: How come we're missing so many tapestries?

It's one of those things that happen as the game evolves: things get left behind. Whoever came up with the concept of tapestries may not work in KI anymore or they've moved on to work on other things.

It's the same thing we have happening to crafting, gardening, fishing - as new systems come out, old features become neglected or abandoned completely.

@Arthur Wethersfield? This would seem to be your area. Are new tapestries anywhere on the drawing board? It certainly would be nice to have some new Housing projects to Craft.

Watchtower Hall crafted 7/21/10 -- Guides: Crafting Stations, here -- Crafted Grizzleheim Housing Items here -- Mirkholm Keep Ore/Diamonds here -- Cave of Solitude Black Lotus here

Re: How come we're missing so many tapestries?

I believe that the original idea for those came from J. Todd Coleman. He came into my office one day, 13 or 14 years ago and asked how difficult they would be to create.

I think I saw him mention that he got the idea from a book called With a Single Spell by Lawrence Watt-Evans which describes something like a teleport tapestry. I'm a big fan of Lawrence Watt-Evans! I read With a Single Spell when it came out in 1987.

I'm not sure why we stopped making Teleport Tapestries, I guess we got distracted by other things.

The next time we need rewards for something housing related, I'll bring them up.

What tapestries would you like to see?

I think the Key Bosses would be pretty popular. Perhaps if there's an update to the Guild Housing Crafter list of recipes, some of the Key Bosses Tapestries could be included. Perhaps there's a particularly good spot for those getting their lot of Azoth using Adventure Talents?

I can make a thread later that culminates the best farming locations throughout the Spiral and you can read through it!

I personally wouldn't mind seeing a tapestry to all the newer worlds. The last one was Polaris. Also, how about a modification to the Polaris tapestry recipe. The Extra Large Fish Cart housing item/reagent is almost non existent. You can only get it from farming one gold key boss with a massive loot table or from a hoard pack that is no longer sold. Makes it way more than challenging to craft this object.

I think you mean another word really, the old recipe should never been so tough with reagent only from Empyrea. Devs got upset we told them so, so they made it ludicrously difficult. Even after all these years they are so out of touch with players. The ex players to dev team from central are too scared to say a word. It's sad it's every group, pvp, pve and some casual players and the devs, still have no idea, no humility, are the players of 10-15 year veteran players right and maybe we should listen?

Sorry not talking about you Arthur Wethersfield, you do engage here and offer help and listen. I'm sure you wish you could do more being an early developer in game. You are appreciated <3

Off hand I don't have a list of locations but far off places cutting out running for farming and/or daily's would be high on my list. Empyrea has many areas with no port or tapestries to get there quickly. Lord Nightshade in wiz City still is a good run after teleport were added, maybe that could be a future teleport not tapestry? Teleport or tapestry to, darn my memory fails me, near the end of Mooshu end dungeon before Jade Oni, I often ignore the daily's to those areas.

Before gold key changes I would have included Omen, but with a rarity of stone keys I have enough of his drops so not planning going again.

I guess the key is the recipes, the hatchery, bazaar were my starts and were not easy. They made my " wiz life" easier and made me make more, inspired me to fish every fish in game. If Polaris tapestry was my beginning point I would have not bothered, would not have 12 wizards who completed all fish quests, probably not one wiz. Tapestries were why I fish.
