It's been a little while since the Gauntlet was first released!

Have you done the dungeon yet? What are your thoughts on this gauntlet?

Personally................

I'm not super enthralled by the Gauntlet myself because the mob fights seem really forgettable and there's nothing that's really special about the dungeon itself because it's only just fights. One fight after another just seems to me very bland because it's practically mindless to do AoE after AoE (barring the last boss because of the cheats). I wish there were puzzles or games involved that changes the rhythm of the Gauntlet. And the drops, well less than a hundred gold and some housing items I could find in the bazaar... well that's not gonna cut it.

When the Nignt Mire Swamp is compatible with Monstrology, I'll extract the Glowbugs. Then I'll probably forget about it.

I have it, but have to admit I still haven't used it. I got it as another "interactive" part of my Creepy Carnival for when I have guests/groups for various events (Especially with the upcoming Beastmoon Group that @VictoriaWildsong and & are putting together). If anyone wants, they are welcome to try it out.

Main issue(s) Lack of variety and excitement in the gaunt.

• Mob fights are forgettable and lack uniqueness.
• No puzzles or games to break up the monotony of fights.
• Disappointing drops with little value.

Sums it up just as you said; I love the theme but overall I don't see the replay value myself, let alone the single run being all that enticing to "buy"

Given you get no rewards if you help a lower level, not even the level of them, it's a pretty pointless exercise.

I have not yet entered this Gauntlet, but these reports of lack of drops is quite disappointing. Thinking about the similar lack of anything interesting dropping in most battles of Novus, I begin to wonder what the new philosophy of the developers is regarding battle rewards.

These newer Gauntlets are the perfect opportunity to add tasty Mega snack drops, a new Seed, or -- dare I say it -- another source for Flying Squid Ink? The Highland gauntlet provides many new unique housing items, one would think that this new Bayou location would do the same.

I'm actually hurting for Armor Piercer jewels so this gauntlet came around at a pretty good time for me. Yeah I could farm some random things in Empyrea but now I could instead farm this with some friends.

The gauntlet looks nice, has unique music, and being able to craft some of the gear seems like it could be a good idea (I just have to farm more first). At the rate I'm getting gear drops, I'll definitely need to farm this more than 50 times before I could get everything. The jewel drops are nothing new but they drop frequently enough that this probably overtakes Empyrea mob farming. Housing items are oldies but from what little I knew of them previously, they weren't the easiest things to obtain until now. Which is nice and all but I do not have the inventory space for 80 Living Logs.

I didn't get to pay too much attention to the battles since the group I was in just one-turned everything except for the main boss and the secret boss, both of which cheat against one-turning. But from the looks of their cheats on the wiki, they look like they're horrendous to fight if you aren't doing this. The first boss takes away 90% of your max health on the first turn as a cheat, no wonder why we would want to run him over in one round! The secret boss goes from "winnable in 3-4 rounds" to nightmarish if you can't kill them fast enough, and by fast enough I mean Moon and Star both need to be defeated (without defeating Sun) within 2 turns or else.

The new combat design philosophy has been ruthless to everyone except for the most well-off people who can simply win before they have to deal with the massive stalling that every enemy has fallen head-over-heels for. Without efficient and effective ways to not only bypass defenses, but to actually counter them, these battles will only serve to further the gap between the have's and the have-not's. This gauntlet is easy but grindy, to me, because I have access to a wonderful group of friends who can trounce every battle. For everyone else, it's hard and a total grindfest.


I do need to stress that I still highly appreciate that this gauntlet exists, despite all of the negatives. It's a wonderful thing to have a way to farm for Crowns items that doesn't require spending an unknown variable amount of money on Crowns for packs for a chance of acquiring the item(s) that you want. These gauntlets are a good thing.

Talking about the badges. Yes, I'm glad they (attempted) to make badges for this Gauntlet. However, then I turn my eyes to a similar mob after mob then boss Gauntlet with badges as well. If you could infer, I'm talking about the Train Robbery Gauntlet. However what is different from this Gauntlet and the Train Robbery Gauntlet is that the Train Robbery Gauntlet did drop a lot of Housing Items that were crowns only (found only within the pack) and rental mounts... but the Night Mire Gauntlet doesn't often drop pack-exclusive crowns housing items or rental mounts. It's as though Ki diminished their standards to what is acceptable since that time. It's only worse knowing that these two Gauntlets are exactly the same price.
