We didn't get any confirmation, and that's not really KI's focus right now. See this comment from Ratbeard:

"Don't get ahead of us. We're testing the amount of Pierce. Focus on that feedback (because we are)."

I think that being at 6% makes these the perfect "upgrade" for Pierce Jewels that have been stagnant for the past 7-8 years without actually boosting the amount of Pierce that they give for each school. Also, by keeping it at 6%, these jewels are useful even to single-school players since they can socket them in and forget about the other half of the bonus.

this. because piercing jewels are somewhat difficult to come by. i have circle jewel plants on both accounts and pierce jewels are rare harvests.

Please keep in mind that all new content and changes to existing content that's being tested on Test Realm are not automatically guaranteed to be released with the update going live! Most content will of course, but for the jewels in this case, we will be carefully evaluating your feedback as Test Realm progresses.
