This was just announced today.
Cindy Williams, an actress best known for her role on the 1970s slapstick sitcom “Laverne & Shirley,” died on Wednesday in Los Angeles. She was 75.
Her death followed a brief illness, her assistant, Liza Cranis, said by phone on Monday, adding that she had died “peacefully.” No cause was given.

Laverne & Shirley was such a fun show when I was a teen. The sheer genius of the pairing of the actors and actresses in their roles was perfect. So many iconic characters combined to touch on so many issues in a fun way that offended no one...all centered around these 2 girls played by incredible actresses/comedians.

To think that Cindy Williams, 1/2 of the very core of the show that made it such a success AND all her many, MANY other major accomplishments/roles, is gone is heart breaking for me.

I will always remember:

The opening song always stuck with me. I just read this too:

That opening would become as popular as the show itself. Williams’ and Marshall’s chant of "schlemiel, schlimazel" as they skipped along together became a cultural phenomenon and oft-invoked piece of nostalgia."
