I remember when my first Wizard had to try three times to defeat Rattlebones. She had no mount, no pet, a starter wand, and only two treasure cards in her deck. I think she had only gotten maybe three drops of gear, and couldn't afford to buy better from the vendors in the Shopping District. Talk about poorly equipped. Gold was not nearly as plentiful as it is now, there were no reagents to collect and sell at the Bazaar (which didn't exist), and while there may have been Wooden Chests, I hadn't learned about them and their locations.

When I saw that popup from Professor Greyrose about being defeated, it was a very sad moment, but I kept trying until I got lucky and won.

I remember when...on Sunday mornings we would play hide and seek / tag-you're it. A group of us would take turns hosting the game and we had so much fun making our houses full of deviously hidden hiding spots, and inviting everyone who was online that morning to join in the fun. It got even better for a short while when we could "make game public." No idea why no one plays tag anymore, but it's kind of sad. Maybe it could become an activity for guilds?

That does sound like something guilds could have a lot of fun with. If only you were in a guild...! Would you be able to show up at our next get together and talk about how we could incorporate this? There's definitely folks in the Central guild looking for activities to do and as @Dylan Windwalker, this could be the Gold Standard.

As to the OP, mine is only too predicable and cliche - Remember when Derby was a thing?

For me, though, it's much more than just that-thing-KI-hated-and-finally-killed - so much, much more.

Some already know this because it's almost "the reason" I got into this game, but way back when Derby first came out, my 5 year old daughter would sit on my lap and we would do race after race together, alternating between who would do the navigating and who would trigger the abilities. This may mean nothing to folks who never did Derby but for what it translated to was that we were an unstoppable team. Eventually she lost interest and I had to learn how to do it all by my self, but by then I had some killer pets and didn't have to rely on the team advantage she gave me. Of course, I would still recruit her for big races in tournaments against some of the Derby greats, and she was a real trooper for long after she could fit on my lap, but eventually she decided I should do it on my own. And then Team Lifebringer was mortal....

Anyway, I miss those days, not for the Derby (although....) but because we would spend HOURS together. She's off at college now and thinks I'm completely mad for still playing, but those were some great memories. Sadly, I used to joke with her that "We'll always have Paris Derby" but, well, KI seemed to have other ideas about that. Boohoo.

Hi Casp. Sorry. Not sure, are you referring to me? Because it seems like only yesterday you and I were discussing how I accidentally messed up Gorman's overhead bridge unknowingly, you revoked my decorator privileges, and we talked about respecting people's decorating contributions. Thus, I am in your guild already.

Sorry that Sunday guild gatherings don't really work for me, its dedicated family time. Happy to meet up other times. Oh, and by the way, I am sad to see my contribution of a gnome village in the guild house is completely gone now. sigh.

Sorry @jasminejadeheart - of course I knew you were in our guild because I invited you to our next get together and I only said "if only you were in a guild" in jest. But for sure, the timing on this is quite fortuitous because we've been talking about doing more activities as a guild and I do think there could be a place for these games. Would love to hear your ideas. Since Sundays don't work for you then let me know what would work for you and hopefully we can find each other in game.

I remember when my first wizard worked for weeks gathering up iron to get the rare drop of diamonds for crafting. I didn't realize the Bazaar had any pages beyond clothes.

I remember when Spiral Shadows were a guild, and all the cool things they would do, including being out of bounds at Elik's Edge. I remember the thrill of getting a Max Stats pet, and how active and important the hatching groups were. I remember how connected I used to feel to the community, and how engaged KI staff were with the player base. A game must grow, and evolve, but there was something really profound about that early part of the game (I started in 2009) that built the base.

Is it just a fake memory but I seem to have a vague memory of a time BEFORE the Bazaar itself existed and instead he stood somewhere outside. Is this a real memory??

I'm not sure if there was "someone standing outside ...", but the new Bazaar and the new Shopkeeper, Elik Silverfist, were both introduced in the game in July 2009. See the Update Notes with details.

Yep, that's it! As soon as I went to the link it all came flooding back! Gosh, this thread has really brought back so many memories of a day when the game was still fun, simple and involved a great story.
