....I didn't care about pets. They served little purpose but as a companion to follow you around.
I could purchase transformations from the crowns shop for gold. Many a fun time was had with others role playing and doing stuff like taking over the death school as skeletons with 2 guards standing outside and everyone else inside. That aside I immediately thought of the Skillet song Those Nights when I read the thread title.
"I remember when..."
I first entered the Spiral. I was a 40 something, a super stressed out mess killing myself with anxiety and my Dr. told me to find something to relax with, she asked if I like any games or anything and I said I used to play D&D way back when it first came out with paper, pencils and dice.
Later that same night, I was watching TV and the first of the W101 commercials came on and it seemed like fun because it reminded me of D&D. I was hesitant because my idea of a computer game went back to playing Pong or Break Out on my old Atari system (I still have it in storage somewhere).
I took a chance and logged into the game for the first time, afraid I would have to make my character jump, flip and do all sorts of crazy things but instead found it easy to control and the spell concept was fun...like playing poker or chess. By the time I got to the end of the "free" section, I was hooked and got my membership immediately. DS was still something hinted at, pets did not exist and we had to run around without any kind of mounts...but I had found "my thing".
Within 6 months, my stress meds were literally reduced 50% and I have been a happy citizen of The Spiral ever since.
The only, ONLY other thing that helped me relax was when I was introduced to Central where I would lurk for some time before I would actually join so I could contribute with everyone else.
Yeah, those were some special times for me for many reasons.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane...I needed it.
Hugs,
V
I remember when...on Sunday mornings we would play hide and seek / tag-you're it. A group of us would take turns hosting the game and we had so much fun making our houses full of deviously hidden hiding spots, and inviting everyone who was online that morning to join in the fun. It got even better for a short while when we could "make game public." No idea why no one plays tag anymore, but it's kind of sad. Maybe it could become an activity for guilds?
Happy trails!
I remember when we could use mounts in the Pet Pavilion.
…2011 and 2012 pop was the only music I listened to when I played in my early days. Now it’s super nostalgic listening to marry the night by mother monster while running around the grand chasm in dragonspyre.
@Caspeen, I think you were looking for things the Guild can do and honestly this is gold standard lol
I remember when... there were House Parties. And I'm not talking about just a couple players just hanging out with one another, I'm talking about houses with 20-30 people and there were players inviting others in the Commons (back when I bothered hanging out in the Commons lol). I just enjoyed the amount of activities and having many things going on at the same time. I don't think this is a thing anymore or maybe I'm just outta the loop lol Maybe @Cinnamochi and I can set something up like this with Central one of these days lol

I remember when…
You had to run around an area like in Mooshu to find the teleporter, so you could use it from the hub in future.
