Favorite "Christmas Songs".

They come to Wichita every year, and every year we go see them perform live. One of the few personal luxuries I allow myself.

When I saw the title of this thread, this was the first thing that came to mind. While not by any means a "traditional" Christmas song, I have many great memories associated with it.

We have a gentleman who lives in our neighborhood, and every year he puts on the most incredible light show. He decorates every possible inch of his house, his roof and his shed. He puts Christmas trees and decorations out on the lawn. Everything is covered in Christmas lights. I can't even begin to think what his electricity bill must be.

Every night during the season, a long line of cars pull up to his house. When it's your turn, you tune your car radio to a certain station.
He plays a rotation of Christmas songs, with lights flashing everywhere in time to the music. The last song is Sarajevo. When the song ends on its fevered pitch, the lights all go dark. It's amazing. We've always taken our kids there and as adults they still want to go.

We also went to see them live once and it's a wonderful performance.

As beautiful as the song is, the video that goes with it is extremely powerful in its message.

I love driving around the area and just watching all the wonderful displays. The Zoo and Botanica have special full scale decoration events that are simply amazing, but then there are some of the houses that are so incredible you just have to stand there for several minutes to let it all sink in. I have noticed something I feel is very special; while there are many houses in more affluent areas that have tons of lights and music, some of the best and most magical displays are in the "not so affluent" areas where the spiritual and magical quality are superior as they do what they can within their budget...so every piece counts so much more.

Today, my supermarket played Andy Williams’ “Most Wonderful Time of the Year”! Naturally, I sang along, rather loudly, in the shopping aisles. I didn’t know the entire song but boy did I give it my all during the chorus.
