Avalanches legendary cutlass – why? Just why?

So I thought I would go farm this beautiful wand to stitch. Checking the wiki I find that the original wand no longer comes from the boss Avalanche. Instead it has been repurposed and drops from Malistaire. Why would you do that? You could have left the original, created a new one using the same look so both exist. I have no desire to try and farm the entire final dungeon of Dragonspire. Sure it's easy enough with one of my big wizards, but it's massively time-consuming and boring, all that running around. Not to mention the incredibly low drop rates. Please stop doing things like this. The developers are really running this game into the ground. There are times when I wonder if everything happening inside Wizard is on purpose.

It is pretty... weird, perplexing. Are they seeing that this item is No-Auction and automatically putting it in the drop tables of Malistaire to make it rare because everything that drops from Malistaire is rare because not many people would bother travelling through that dungeon? I'm trying to find the logic of this because I expect these game designers to be smarter than I am, like what I'm suggesting (that items with "Avalanche's" in their title should be dropped by Avalanche, a 1:1 plain and simple) is nothing extraordinary, but Idk anymore.

I don't want to accept that these people don't know what they're doing, which is even worse than the idea that what they're doing is intentionally wrong. It's one thing to say what the Ki Devs is doing is wrong, but it's another thing to say that the what they are doing wrong, they don't realize that it's wrong in the first place.

I'm guessing employee turnover means that the newer kids aren't familiar with what has come before them, and they have to practically re-invent the wheel as they learn their new jobs. The new overall thinking seems to be that to turn Wizard101 into a "more challenging" game will make it more popular and make the company more money.

Value is a very subjective thing.

Somebody needs to tell them an old adage:

If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Why make it "more challenging"? If players wanted "more challenging" they would choose a different game! The newer players that are making KI/Gamigo lots of money, are clearly here for a more casual experience, not for hardcore content. If new players want hardcore or more challenging content, they will be put off by the first arc.

I feel that I must forewarn you some of this revised equipment - perhaps all of it - will not drop for wizards outside the appropriate lvl/world range, the same way as spellements.

Your maxes likely can't get the drop.

Fortunately there's an alternative, the Solider's blades - common wand drops of the Catacombs - share the same appearance as the Dragonspyre glowing swords. If you're still interested in them that's where you should farm, even the Abandoned House drops them.

Thank you for the info BUT it shouldn't be like this. Cool things in lower worlds should ALWAYS drop for all. Honestly, if I lived in Texas and these people needed any kind of help, I can't swear I'd help them. Not very Christian, something I need to work on. However, I'd imagine saying, sorry to higher level to help you. I know I'm being dramatic, in my fictional example, but there has to be benefits of being high level that certain things are not the same kind of grind. All I see are doors closing on cool stuff making them harder to get overall.

I thought someone said older items are supposed to be more freely available not getting harder to obtain.

Weird, I thought you were already aware of this. But, yea, it's Just another unnecessary change. They could have just added a new boss or something that drops all the new gear and kept everything else where it was.
