      Spellement Paths for PVE

I am curious to know what spellement paths you all are considering/taking for use in PVE.

I can see keeping a damage path for 2-pip spells where the alternative would create a 3-pip spell.
1-pip spells converted to 2-pip seems good.

Are the 5,6-pip "gambit" spells worth any weight in PVE?
How about a combo setup like fire wyvern to phoenix or cyclops to minotaur.

Fire Elf converted to AOE seems cool but you lose the awesome finishing damage of the original.
Death Vampire is another where you sacrifice damage/drain but get a utility to consider.
Maybe choose the utility paths and pack TC of the original?

Myth troll to summon a minion seems useful.
Balance Gearhead push and steal seems useful too.

      Re: Spellement Paths for PVE

I don't have many things upgraded that have multiple paths, it's usually a straight line for spells that I have a lot of spellements for. Although I do recall upgrading scarab so it's two pips and gives a mini trap and in the future, I will continue to upgrade spells in the direction of utility rather than damage

For balance, I was thinking Scarab to 2 pip, Scorpion choose damage, Locust Swarm dunno.
Gearhead for the utility path, Hydra top for shields like Tower.
      Spectral Blast - dunno.

      Re: Spellement Paths for PVE

For my Life wizard, I have chosen the Utility options for both Imp and Leprechaun, since those spells won't be used by her very often at all at Level 150. For Grrrrnadier, I chose to decrease the pip cost so that I can cast it more often if I need it.

To me, it depends on the particular spell and how you may intend to use it.

I am not up to level 100 yet so..
If Leprechaun is not used much at higher levels, a low level person could consider choosing the damage path and keep it 2-pip?
I have been avoiding those 3-pip spell upgrades.

      Re: Spellement Paths for PVE

unless i'm only given one option, I always go for greater damage.

case in point for me is Sound of Music turned Kiss Mouse. Out of all the Karamelle spells that one absolutely tickles me, just watching the transformation and damage output.

In my case, I always go for the higher pip cost, because my storm tends to hit leaving one enemy up with one hit point.

Yeah other people running with me might complain about me taking too long, but I am for the most part playing solo. I'm not choosing to solo, but many other players aren't on when I am, so I am stuck playing that role.

The younger players in game, love my Sound of Musicology card and sometimes stick around when I am in the mood to collect badges, and they might blade me before I throw my tried and true mouse and get cheers from the graphic change.

      For death:

Dark sprite - Bottom path. 2 pips instead of 1, but more damage and a -15% weakness thrown in.

Ghoul - Top path. More damage and you get more health back.

Banshee - Bottom path. It may be less damage, but you get a weakness and an infection. It's like a budget shift sugar glider.

Vampire - Top path - Are you kidding? Not only is the bottom path less damage, but the effect is so situational that it's not worth the trouble, even in pvp. Besides, the top path gives you more health back, and when fully upgraded, it actually surpasses the pre-nerf vampire.

Skeletal pirate - Bottom path, although the top path is a decent choice too. The bottom path is about the middle of the base damage with no variation, but adds on damage if the enemy has up to 2 heals over time on them. Sure it's situational like vampire, but you won't be sacrificing much damage. The top path though has a bit more damage than the base damage, also with no variation, but the top path in all of these spells in all classes also increases in accuracy. Full upgraded, you get 10% more accuracy, which is very helpful.

Wraith - This one could also go either way. Top path gives you a bit more damage, but gives you health back, but the bottom path is 10 less damage (compared to top path), but puts on a -25% weakness if there's already a debuff on the enemy. It doesn't have to be a weakness. It could be an infection, dispel, or mantle.

Ship of fools - Top path without question

Snack attack and grim reader - Top path for more damage. Snack attack is surprisingly useful and death's strongest aoe at 7 pips.

The accuracy boost helps also if you choose the damage paths.

Skeletal Pirate won't be needed in my deck, I will stack with stock Headless.
I like your choices but Wraith will probably go via the top path for me.

My death is level 90 so I have yet to see Snack Attack or Grim Reader.

      Thx for the suggestions.

The problem being that 99% of PvE is blade + hit, just pick what you think might be fun. Can always change them back during a free spell buy back event.
