      You may not want to hear any more details, but I just got a letter from a company stating that there was an incident sometime between July and August of 2021 that compromised my personal data. Obviously, I had no clue, because it wasn't an online game with very public disclosure of the breach. However, the verbiage regarding how promptly and diligently they took steps, yada yada yada, is almost exactly what we have seen here. Perhaps, sometime down the line, we'll all get form letters from Kingsisle with the same assurances. (Maybe someone knows the legal timeframe a company has to perform such notifications?)

      Our personal data is "out there" in many places, and if bad actors want it, they can get it.

      I think the only "primary" unclear/unstated issue here is that we need, deserve even, a declarative statement about the security of our accounts and private information that isn't shrouded in a veil of legal "mumbo jumbo".

      While there is so much KI is limited to say at this point about the various "technical/legal details" of what happened, I, like many others, need to hear simply was/is my account and information safe. Was it compromised? If it WAS compromised is it still in danger? Is there something KI suggests we should do? What is KI doing on this specific topic of our safety?

      Please, let's set aside the focus on the "details" of what happened and instead let us know "Was/is/are our accounts and private information safe?"; Not "They might have been" or "We think they are safe", etc.". Instead KI needs to be clear and specific so we can take whatever measures we need to make sure on our end we are safe so that we can alleviate our own fears/concerns.

      Right now we need clear reassurance not vague possibilities. If they can be concise and definitive, then again I for one need to know what I should or need to do to protect myself. The very lack of such a statement itself is what gives me cause for concern.

      Given that he said it's an entirely separate system that has nothing to do with our accounts, I'm sure that our accounts are safe. He also said that no accounts were breached as well, so that most likely means that our accounts are on another system than the one that was hacked and are thus still safe.

      Thank you very much. As @Sierra SeaSong pointed out, the original statement did not really make it clear if we were safe, but your specific statement about them being separate systems and that no accounts had been breached was/is most welcomed news.

      I really think this should serve as an example that sometimes businesses get so caught up in one aspect of a problem that the main message gets lost or is even though to be "understood". Clear and concise statements like yours is what people need to help them relax about the main issue and focus on the other related issues after. In this case, the very first thing should have been a statement like yours so we would know our accounts are safe, then address the Broadcast Message system; especially when you consider that not that many of us actually know/knew that it was a separate system or even what the Broadcast Message system is in the first place.

      Again, thank you so much and a special thank you to @Sierra SeaSong for staying on the major topic of are we safe or not without being distracted by all the other stuff.

      I, for one, feel much better now.

      The problem of hacking is still out there (and I'm not just talking about the bazaar bots). If you see anything suspicious even if you're not sure if you have evidence to support it, it is still better to report it than to let it fester about! I'm not sure what good it will do but we would never know if they're never aware of the incident in the first place.
