I've often wondered, why do we have a level cap on gold. KI removed the cap on reagents and pet snacks because they figured out that nobody would buy packs if they had to sell off these items to be able to do so. I'm getting tired of Zeke always bothering me, so I'd like to know what their reasoning is in keeping a cap on gold.

Not only that, why hasn't that cap been raised recently? We've been stuck as 575,000 for a couple of years now.

I've always thought that, like the color choices in the Dye Shop, it was something imposed by the original software used to create the game. I'm not sure why the cap has to be so low, actually. Now that there are so many ways to get Gold in the game, even my Level 25 wizard is now regularly hitting the cap from either Fishing, Gardening or when using Storm Scout and receiving the bonus Gold instead of bonus Reagents.

I will say that the Gold Cap is probably one of the main reasons for the constant lack of Reagents at the Bazaar. I don't believe players would buy as many if Zeke weren't yelling at them "You better spend some of that!"

A part of it is honestly that Ki doesn't think the Gold Cap is too low and they still think it's alright. Given that Ki doesn't ever play the full experience of their own game (like farming, selling multiple fish, gardening), Ki themselves may not have ever encountered the struggles of max gold and thus they don't consider it as much of a problem. And even if they did play the game, the problem of max gold only really starts becoming a thing during Azteca and beyond (exclusively considering this hypothetical player is only questing), so Ki is unlikely to reach that point by questing on their own. If Ki needed a max level player, they would just work the numbers rather than going through the process of getting to max level and thus they never experience the Gold Cap.

Another part of it is the same reasoning they said no to the TC Vault. Gold is meant to be used and not hoarded. And I do think this is more fair argument (in comparison to the TC Vault) because there are many options to how a player can spend gold and thus the Gold Cap should never be a problem. But in reality, this isn't completely true because a lot of the times, players don't want to spend gold in those ways. Housing Items take up too much space (with attics usually being full for max level wizards). There's no need to buy gear if they already have the best. Sometimes, there are no reagents in the bazaar. Their TC is full. They don't want to buy snacks because they already have hundreds of mega snacks from gardening. But again, since Ki doesn't play their own game, they will never see this themselves and thus never realize these personal problems and thus never do anything about it. They don't garden, they don't quest, and they don't ever go to the bazaar.

The difference here is that Ki Devs aren't actual players.

Anyhow, given that Ki does unlock the Gold Cap, the only thing that we're going to see is that the things we're likely to spend gold on will just get more expensive. We will start seeing recipes that cost a million gold or some extraordinarily high number and that's ultimately bad for the future of the game itself.

Honestly, they're unlikely to upgrade the Gold Cap and we will just have to settle with buying the "Big Piles of Gold" in Mirage if we reach a cap we don't want.

I want to focus on my game not listen to the recording that I am about to loose some Gold...that I can't even find things to do it with anymore. Perhaps if more Crowns items had a Gold equivalent price, then it would help...perhaps.

You've both brought up some good points. I would hate to have to pay 2,000,000 gold to hatch with a kiosk pet. Guess I'll just quit whining and fussing, ignore Zeke and go buy a large gold pile in Mirage.

I have to agree with you, the Crown Shop does have an extremely low inventory that is available for gold.

True, @Arthur Wethersfield once said that they'd take a look at older housing items that have been Crowns Only for a long time, but it may be pretty far down on the priority list. It's just something they'd add in to a future update on the sly, maybe.

I thought KI said the gold cap exists for the same reason the TC vault was removed....they don't want players hording gold (or TCs). They want players using the gold. It's more likely KI would design more expensive items to purchase for gold, before they would increase the gold amount.
