Re: Spiral Scene and the Housing Decorator Badges

As a result of reading this thread I put a couple of Castles into Tours this morning and did get one of the two badges I was lacking on Victoria - the Maze category. I still need to rate in the Decorated Category, where I have added one of my Castles off and on over the past couple of years. If I have that missing badge tomorrow, then the premise of this thread will be validated, for me anyway.

But 5,000 ratings will definitely elude me for some time to come. I do the event for the Scroll of Fortune points, as for me it's MUCH easier than trying to slog out anything worthwhile in Beastmoon or Deckathalon before going about my wizarding (or pirating) business.

If I'm waiting for the timer to expire, I just stand there, and check to see if it looks familiar (Re-rate). If, while I'm standing there, something catches my eye, I might do an item identifier. It's got to have a real, well-thought-out scheme, to get higher than a '1'. Just want to get my scroll points points as fast as possible. It's not like the event rewards are worth anything, but I do want to get the 200 lunari reward from the SoF, and the scroll tapestry.
I rate a lot of dorms (working on rating badge, 2620 down, 2380 to go), and some days I'll get more re-rates than first time rares, and that's when I might do another category house.
I agree with someone else - the whole badge, and event, are broken. Whatever they were trying to do, its pure random whether your house gets visited the most to earn a badge, and people who are just doing it to earn points for the scroll, well, y'know.

A lot of time and effort goes into decorating dorms/houses by some players. I try to at least give them the courtesy of looking at what they've done.

I must say this thread has been eye opening for me. Here I thought my houses made the leader boards because people like what I did.

Good luck with the badge. I rated 10 houses every day after I did the daily quest. It took a lonnnnng time lol

Yeah, I wonder if people care about my house that I try and put all my work into to make look good. I try and rate houses, so worth seeing those rank4 houses that inspire me to try and make my house nicer (which I kinda fail at lol)

I don't like it when people call things impossible, because it usually isn't.

Re: Spiral Scene and the Housing Decorator Badges

I rate houses every day, not just during the event.. I try to be fair in my ratings, I do know the effort that goes into decorating.

The overall house rating system is just broken, and you see if more during the event because more people are actually doing it. So once a month the ratings are just junk lol.

Re: Spiral Scene and the Housing Decorator Badges

Still haven't gotten the badge Top Decorator yet.

I do appreciate a house where everything isn't "in the way" of getting around, getting inside or to the freebie-giver, or fishing. Sometimes a wall of stuff is okay, but other times less is more.

Re: Spiral Scene and the Housing Decorator Badges

Did anyone else try my suggestion? If so, were you successful?

As a test, I had 2 of my wizards add some houses just this morning (Monday). The one wizard didn't get the decorator badge, but they both DID get the A-maze-ing badge.

If you did add a house the first day, take note of how many times it will have been visited when the event ends. And then in a couple of weeks see how many times it will have been visited since then. At the very least, you'll see what I mean by most housing ratings visits are done during the event.

Also, if you paid attention to how many times it was visited on the day you added it to the tour, a majority of the visits were probably that first day.

You can't get the decorator badge if your house isn't getting visited and rated.

Edit: Maybe the actual rating does come into play when you're talking about the very top of the leader board, but you still need to get a lot of ratings.

I never did get Top Decorator. I think everyone and their brother must have submitted new Decorated Castles at the same time due to your suggestion. I seem to have gotten 36 visits on my Castaway's Bungalow that I submitted. My Briny Deep Retreat and Sunken Palace are both on the Leaderboards, though, at 37 and 39 visits -- so what's the magic number here?

One of my houses got to 7 in collections during an event in like 15 visits, so no clue how it works honestly. It was long ago when this event was newish.

Re: Spiral Scene and the Housing Decorator Badges

As of today, here are the results for my four wizards who have houses on the tours:

Death House - 56 visits - No ranking

Grand Fortress - 47 visits - No ranking

Celestial Observatory - 41 visits - No ranking

      Dragon's Fjord - 44 visits - No ranking

Tranquil Cottage - 43 visits - No ranking

Metropolitan Manor - 45 visits - No ranking

Winter Wind Tower - 41 visits - Has fluctuated between #20 and #26

Apparently my Life, Death and Ice wizards already had the "Master Decorator" and the "Top Decorator" badges from some time back, so their results aren't much help. But I'm a little confused; the wiki lists "Master Decorator" as indicating top 10 in any category, and "Top Decorator" as indicating top 100 in the Decorated category. Is that right? Seems like it should be the other way around.

Re: Spiral Scene and the Housing Decorator Badges

One of my houses that I just added yesterday is at 45 visits, and #68 on the leader board. Under the Maze Category. And there's no maze in it.

And the other house that I added yesterday is at 33 visits, and is #50 on the leader board. Same story: Maze category, with no maze.

So maybe its not just number of visits. But in another month they'll add maybe 2 or 3 visits each, so I stand by what I said - You have to add them during an event to get visits in order to get rated. And how well or appropriately they are decorated doesn't seem to matter.

      Edit:

And note, that's how many times they got visited their first day on the tour.

      Edit:

House added monday morning, tuesday morning had 45 visits, friday evening still at 45 visits.

House added monday morning, tuesday morning had 33 visits, friday evening at 34 visits.
