Do you like Long Instance Dungeons?

We're talking about super long dungeons like Emperor's Retreat in Krokotopia, Ironworks in Marleybone, the Crimson Fields in Mooshu, the Great Spyre in Dragonspyre. The long dungeons where there's many quests and lots of walking but also fun things to explore like Secret Bosses or side quests with valuable rewards. These longer instance dungeons have larger areas too rather than the recent dungeons with only a smaller area size with only one or two quests.

Would you rather have long instance dungeons (one or two per world) or would you rather have short distance dungeons (ideally there are many of these per world)? Do you like longer dungeons in the first place?

I think Ki has done less of these because its an inconvience to design and not many players enjoy the walking around part of these long instance dungeons (but then again, Ki could always just implement teleporters to the special areas). I personally want more of these longer instance dungeons because there could be a lot more done with a larger area and I'm thrilled by uncovering secrets within that only those that explore can find.

Re: Do you like Long Instance Dungeons?

I would much rather have a long dungeon that has several different medium-difficulty battles or puzzles than single-battle frustrating cheating bosses that make people want to rage quit. Personally, I don't care for the idea of the infinite level dungeon that was discussed on the recent KI Live, although I understand its appeal for players looking for challenge. The infinite dungeon idea should have an elevator, so that we can return to the level we left off.

I would hope that there could be interesting rewards for those of us who don't have time for marathon gaming sessions.

They would not bother me if we were allowed to either port to co-dungeon players or allowed to have mounts in the dungeon. It does not make sense in why we are not allowed to have mounts in the dungeon. I understand the reason why on porting to player. This was due to those who were doing speed leveling awhile back. However, what I have mention and asked for in the past is to allow us to port to co-dungeon team members. So anyone who is in a dungeon together, should be allowed to port to one and another.

Re: Do you like Long Instance Dungeons?

I just reached level 100 on a couple of wizards and have a few others close to that. None have done Waterworks. The length of these kinds of dungeons is bad enough, but worse is the rules. For the next four turns play with left thumb stuck in right ear while humming Beethoven's 9th - hmmm, lets go clip my toenails instead. If I want mastery amulets, there's the Gladiator, though I don't know how the drop rates compare. If they are at all comparable, he seems like the go to guy.

However, these long dungeons have their followers and their rewards and, like Waterworks, many are optional. I may even tackle Waterworks someday. Squid and Hades have no appeal to me, but those Malistaire spells are something I am going to have to deal with sooner or later.

Re: Do you like Long Instance Dungeons?

I'm pretty much in the same ballpark as @Willowdreamer on this one. I don't mind the long dungeons like Tartarus, Darkmoor and the others you mentioned. Those are challenging but interesting. The super cheating boss battles like the Rat, Storm Titan, Medulla were initially (they've been tamed down now). Those battles are just frustration plus.

I didn't get the chance to listen to KI Live so I didn't get the chance to hear what they said, but the idea of an infinite dungeon wouldn't be interesting at all. I'm lucky to have an hour to spend in the game at any given time. If there was a "Save Progress" button and the rewards were substantial enough I might give it a go, but not if all that was dropped were flower seeds and pet snacks.

Like others have said, itís super annoying when youíre running 2 accounts and canít port within the dungeon. Other than that, I love having long instances at the end of a world. Itís more thematic and has more excitement than other things. Seems that trend was lost after Azteca, though.

      Revamp the whole dungeon system.

Dungeons should be more accepting of real life. Not all players can invest long periods of time dedicated to playing straight through to the end of a Dungeon. The first company that comes up with/and trademarks this design will make a bundle.

Not one bit. Darkmoore was one of the pushes for me to not play anymore.

Wizard101 was a simple casual play by myself for the most part RPG for me then it went and got too complex and hard to play on ones time off, because my schedule would not match up with many others.

Re: Do you like Long Instance Dungeons?

I do not like them at all. I also find them extremely unproductive. I've always thought that if I'm going to do this "thing" there should be a "fair" reward at the end. Too many times I've run Waterworks, or Helephant, or Tartarus, or Darkmoor, or Catacombs and received (example): 180 gold, some random reagent(s), some random pet snack(s), maybe a furniture item. This is really frustrating. These long, hard, cheating dungeons are also very damaging and unproductive. None of us need to be behind our computer screens for hours and hours completing these dungeons. It's not healthy. Whether it be damaging mentally, physically or both. Now we're talking about an endless dungeon??? I'm also willing to guess the best drops for this type of dungeon would occur at very high numbers? This is just not a good idea at all.
