Constructive criticism and/or suggestions for KingsIsle

There have been quite a few posts lately expressing criticism of KingsIsle and some of their policies. There have also been suggestions that would prove helpful and beneficial to both KingsIsle and to the players.

Rather than have those posts scattered about the Forums, and sometimes being buried where they might not be noticed, I thought about starting this new thread to use as a platform for constructive criticism and / or suggestions for Wizard101 to KingsIsle.

For those who do not have access to the Wizard101 website or to their other social media sites, feel free to post your thoughts on this Central Forum thread.

So I'll start and I think everyone knows my suggestion; please have more crown sales. I think we've had 1 since Christmas. We use to get them every other week. Now we never get them. Can we please find a happy place somewhere in the middle? Thank you

I know. I miss the "60,000 Crowns for $60" Sale. It used to pop up something like every six weeks. I have five accounts now, so I try to spread my Crowns purchases out over a period of time. And that 'six weeks' worked for me. I would even buy them as a "Gift Certificate" too (for surprise gifts).

I wish that we could see that sale more often again.

I think, in all honesty, that this is the one main issue I have. We have all been pleading for a return of the Crowns sales, and it seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
@Sparck, this issue is one that really needs to be addressed instead of being ignored or swept under the carpet again. Can you please forward our thoughts and feelings. Someone who handles the promotions really needs to pay attention to the fact that to spend Crowns making more money for KI means we need to be able to buy more Crowns. The Crowns sales were a way to increase BOTH and promote the need for Crowns even when there isn't a current sale.

Thank you for making this thread AluraMist! I hope that KI will refer to it as a "To-Do" list.
From the top of my head, here are some suggestions for KingsIsle:


-End The Weeky Microtransactions.

Each week for over a year, KingsIsle has released one or more promotions, that typically come in a "tri-bundle" format- a Perm 40% Speed Mount, Mega Snack Pack, and Pet. These items are almost always overpriced and useless, and due to how rigorously Marketing tries to sell them it can only mean one thing: That KingsIsle is attempting to prey on innocent Players who don't know any better. I urge KingsIsle and Marketing in particular to cease these predatory sales, as they take time away from developing actual content and try to scam innocent Players.

Try selling stitch gear, Pack gear for flat prices, hosting Classic Crown sales/Palooza events, and Perm Mounts for under $5 instead! KingsIsle hardly had any predatory promotions in 2018, and we saw Classic Crown Sales monthly, which proves just how unnecessary all of these microtransactions are nowadays.

-Abolish All Lootboxes.

Packs and Second-Chance Chests need to be removed or reworked. It's no secret that lootboxes can cause gambling addictions in children, which is why several European nations have taken action against them. KingsIsle should be proactive and initiate the removal of lootboxes in their games too, but they can certainly still make money. Just offer Pack gear for set amounts of Crowns, and do away with these toxic RNG Paywalls!

-Deconstruct Entry-Level Barriers.

As a function of time, this game has become increasingly more difficult. Pet Hatching was decimated last year, and Double Gardening is a thing of the past, not to mention the days of ingame grinding nessacary to advance in this game's tech tree. Not only is it unhealthy and unethical to expect 10 year-olds to farm for hours each day, it hurts the game and it's future when you have to grind forever just for a decent pet. It's extremely worrying to me when I see Devs like Ratbeard saying that the Deckathalon should be harder, or that pet hatching is "too easy", when both of those things are practically impossible at lower levels and frustrating at best when you're Level 140.
This is more of a general suggestion, but gardening, pet hatching, the Deckathalon, the Beastmoon Hunt, and grinding for decent gear should be made easier and more accessible.

I'll start with a simple one, please update the game's holiday events with new items! I know you're probably quite decently busy with the major seasonal updates but it would not hurt to introduce a single or multiple new item(s) in any major holiday each year. By introducing new items/microtransactions, players will be more interested participating in the timely festivities. In general updating the game periodically with new original content, rather than at a constant cycle of the same events, allows players to continuously be engaged with the game. A good idea is introducing a side quest line that's themed to that particular holiday, it doesn't have to be long or very compelling but from my personal understanding, by making anything different or new, players who would otherwise be bored and just play a different game would be more likely to continue playing this game (doing the sideline quest multiple times depending on how many wizards they have)
