Is Myth really that bad a school?

Hello everyone,

I just realized that among the endgame wizards, I very rarely see a myth wizard. Why is this? Is myth really that bad of a school? What exactly about them drives away other people from playing? I was kinda interested to level one from scratch and see but really, what is it about Myth that makes it unpopular? Thanks in advance.

Myth School was my 6th wizard and in someways I believe he was 6th because of this myth (no pun intended). I actually enjoy playing on my Myth, but I also believe I understand Myth's place in the game. If you understand what Myth is all about (and I still have some learning to do), myth can be a benefit to a team. It also depends on the circumstances of the game/duel. If every Myth entering a duel wants to be the hitter, I can see some issues with that. Other times, not so much. It's all about knowing and understanding your place in the game. That has gotten lost over the years.

I have a Myth character and enjoy playing him very much. Right now he is soloing in Mirage and having a great time, though for some of the tougher bosses I've had to call in help to get past. I don't know, I think it's that puking frog that grosses people out as to why Myth isn't very popular LOL.

Bolded part made me laugh. Every time I see that spell, I cringe.

I have a level 4 myth wizard (6th made, totally unused) who I want to level at times. I also agree with how there's not many high level myths and I wonder why. I feel like myth's "special" ability is stuns, as so many of their spells stun, but it's so useless in higher areas and worlds because so many bosses stun resist. Their damage just isn't enough to out-hit storms or fire, I guess. I'm excited to read the replies to this thread because I wonder the opinions of others, especially myth wizards.

Myth is just outshined by the three elemental schools. Myth's main focus is on its minions, but seeing how these minions are not very good... We will have to look to this school's other aspects. I would argue that Myth focuses on utility, with their ability to remove charms/wards. They also have stuns, and now a heal too! And Myth also has... Wait, nope that's about it. Oh, and they come in third for damage- right behind Fire!

IMO, Fire outclasses the Myth school in many ways. Stuns? Check. Superior damage? Check. Charm control? Check. Heals? Check. This is why Myth wizards are rarely seen at higher levels.
If you want to be a glass cannon, choose Storm. Want to be a defensive wall? The Ice school has you there. Want to dish out the damage, but be a little bit bulkier? The Fire school is for you! Questing solo? The Death school's drains will keep you alive while you Feint yourself to victory.


Myth has a lot of potential, and I wish that KingsIsle would revamp this school someday. Letting Myth Wizards control their minions, giving them more unique utility spells, and in general making them the "Utility" school would definitely draw more Players to this school of magic!


Oh, I almost forgot- I'm sure that @Vanessa Mythdust would love to talk about the Myth school some more!

Myth is very under rated and I don't get the negative opinion some have of Myth. It's a fun school and can be very strong at 130. I love my Myth, even if he can't match Storm for pure power, he's still a very good Wiz. Actually being my 7th Wiz he was my first to 130.

TBH the minions thing is really only something I used pretty much in the first arc. The only thing I'd like to see is an 7-8 pip attack all for when my shadow pips hide, but the Wandering Eye pet gives a good 8 pip card to make do until KI gives Myth that spell.

130 Myth checking in. It's fine, but I'll agree that I feel Myth is outclasses by both Storm and Fire (I also have 130 Fire, and 129 Storm). Part of that might be his gear (still using Mali boots, and Scepter of Anubis (100)), but he's still much weaker in both damage and critical (though that might change when I get new boots). His resist is only 1% more than my Storm (49% vs 48%). Really, his only strength is his power pip chance, which is kind of a moot point because my other 2 have 95%+ anyway. He does have a ton of pierce (30%) but that's due to jewels.

I've noticed he does make a surprisingly good tank for whatever reason. Even when I'm not trying he will last pretty long.

At 108 you get Witch's House Call. Powerful spell that summons a minion. The minion is pretty dumb, but usually absorbs a hit.

Also, get Ninja Pigs at all costs. Easily the most broken spell for its pip cost.

my myth is also my seventh . but my first balance and storm was first to get to 130. minion use was good for most of the first arc. then it went south. this was supposed to be the only school designed for soloing. and when DS endgame came out it was impossible for no less than 4 wizards to do it due to a puzzle in that dungeon. so that was the point where myth lost it's special ability.

one of the reasons i created a myth was to see what all the fuss was about that school. While myth can be powerful it is the hardest schools to master. as when i took it to do Avalon quests people were amazed that i could critical and do 10k damage with froggie spell. it's health level is almost equal to or equal to fire. also unlike balance and death they can do little to give support to other wizards outside of stuns and removing shields,traps,etc. in the second arc i relied mostly on water works gear and to a lesser extent crafted gear for him. 3rd arc i relied on darkmoor gear more.

overall i think all the schools are pretty much leveling out at a slow pace.
