So very true. I have always made sure I had a nice covered porch wherever I live, and the times of just sitting with my coffee and enjoying all sorts of weather in pure relaxing bliss has been priceless.

When I moved in with my best friend after I had to go on disability for the medical insurance, I fixed up his porch/back yard and would sit out there almost every night; clear sky, rainy sky, snowy sky...whatever. At first he thought I was nuts, but now when I need my "pick me up" I go out there and it doesn't take long before he is in the chair next to me looking out over what nature has to offer. We have gotten outdoor stereo speakers that look like rocks and sit, sip and listen to our favorite song of the past on a low volume so as to not drown out the sounds of nature (4 years ago I built a nice water feature with 4 foot high water fall and fish pond full of aquatic plants, etc.).

A simple life, a simple pleasure...so much better than watching TV.
