"Thought For the Day"

Heading out this morning to another emergency visit at the Pet Hospital. Our oldest dog, Chance, is a Boxer-mix who just turned 13 in December. Our Vet calls him 'her little anomaly'. A Boxer's expected life span is around 8, so we are living on borrowed time. Chance hasn't been himself since Thursday. Not eating, won't go outside, 'stands' on his bed but won't lay down, shivering/trembling, and so many other abnormalities. Still trying to have hope, until we hear what the Vet says.

"Hope is the Key" and for today, it worked. Chance is back home with us. Looks like he has a cervical/neck injury that is causing severe pain. That also appears to have led to the other oddities we saw in him. They did all kinds of tests (Quality of Life Checkup, scans, etc.) and they found no problems. The injury could have been caused by something as simple as running, jumping (which he does a lot), or even just sleeping and somehow turning the wrong way. At his age, that is not uncommon. They gave him a double shot in the office, and after waiting for the results of the tests, they called him back into the exam room. We were all surprised at how he just 'pranced' into the room, like 'okay, here I am'. Came home with two types of meds and we still have to watch him for a while. But all is looking good! Nap time ---

Thank you. It's funny you said that about 'having another Chance'. We got him from a dog shelter, and we renamed him "Chance" for just that reason. And even more so because he looks just like the dog, Chance, in the movie "Homeward Bound; The Incredible Journey" (the one with Michael J. Fox and Sally Field doing the voice-overs).

It’s so true! I’ll be thinking about doing this or that, and in my mind I’m seeing a much younger self accomplishing all things.
