Mizu let out a squeal of excitement, practically yanked her brother out of his seat in a heartbeat, and made her way to the ballroom first.
She glanced around the room before people practically shoved her aside, and she simply stood there, dazzled.

I wore an expression of utter disgust, watching many girls beg a few resistant boys to go dance with them by tugging their arms and even shoving them from their seats. No. This was ridiculous. . . Hesitantly, I glanced around at my fellow first-years. Of course, none of them would dare dance upon that floor. Many of them were much too awkward.
As much as I hated admitting it, I didn't detest ballroom dancing as much as I hated everything else. It was a thing I did often as a young child, and it brought back what little fond nostalgia I actually held in my memories. With a sigh, I sat down at an empty seat at a nearly vacant table. I halfheartedly poked at the food, but didn't bring it to my mouth. I wasn't hungry.
Now, to wait to actually be asked to dance. Tch. Like that was going to happen.

I looked up at the many people scurrying to the dance floor. I started to stand up but quickly sat back down, I didn't want to make a fool of myself in my very first day.

I jumped when I heard the sound of the trumpets. I looked up from my food and over to the headmaster, listening intently. When the doors to the ballroom opened, I just stared at it. Everything had a sparkle to it. There were ornate pillars and a huge shining floor. I placed down my food and wiped my hands. "Come on, Twilight! Let's check it out!" I jumped out of my seat, elated to step inside the room.
♥ Dan and Phil have taken over my life.
Maria's eyes narrowed at the head master. I almost died for this? For some stupid ball!? She thought to herself. She was about to go on a big rant inside her head until realization hit her and her face paled. Ball. Music. Dancing. With a partner. No. Nonono. Nononononono. Nope! I refuse. I refuse 100- no 1000% to this. I don't know how to dance! Walking in this dress is hard enough as it is. Now they expect me to dance!?
Maria looked around the room. Thankfully not many of the first years were getting up like the other students. Seeing this, she let out a thankful sigh.
