How To Download Update in Minutes(Windows XP)

We still remember a few months ago when Kings Isle released Grizzleheim on Live Realm there was congestion when million of players all tried to download new update at the same time.

For Test Realm users there is a way to avoid this congestion by following this procedure. The screenshots shown below are from Windows XP.

In short the procedure is like this:
Copy all latest .WAD files from Test folder to Live folder.

But if you don't understand how to do that this is the detailed procedure:

1. Log on to Test Realm the night before the update to make sure we have the latest patch

2. After Kings Isle finish with maintenance and update we open Windows Explorer, in Folder option select "Show hidden Files and Folders" then go to this folder address:
C:\Program Files\KingsIsle Entertainment\Wizard101 Test\Data\GameData (for Windows XP)
C:\ProgramData\KingsIsle Entertainment\Wizard101 Test\Data\GameData (for Windows Vista)

3. Arrange files according to their Type and highlight the first .WAD file


4. Scroll down to the bottom, press and hold down SHIFT button and highlight the last .WAD file. This will select all .WAD files in that folder.


5. Press Ctrl + C to copy all these files into Clipboard

6. Go to this folder address:
C:\Program Files\KingsIsle Entertainment\Wizard101\Data\GameData (for Windows XP)
C:\ProgramData\KingsIsle Entertainment\Wizard101\Data\GameData (for Windows Vista)

7. Press Ctrl + V to Paste the files from Test folder to this folder


8. Select "Yes to All" when the confirmation box appear.


9. Wait until all files are copied and start Wizard 101.

The game will start immediately and we won't have to download most of the files anymore.

BTW, don't do this the night before the updates and then try to play the game that same night-- only do it after you exit the game for the last time before the release.

It's worth noting that KI hasn't said every feature on test is going live tonight. This trick will save some download time, but there will still be some fixing/adjusting/downloading in the morning.

I know this is too early but how do i go to the folder address after i am in windows explorer. Where do i type it in?

You see the "address bar" right by the Folders thing? That's where you type it in

I just tried this method and was able to get in game in just a few minutes.
