Update to 18+ Open Chat

That is the most lame crud ever! Many people will now quit. I want a refund for my gift card I bought 2 days ago!!!!!! I want them to be used for open chat!

These "benefits" for the way you pay have always been there, KI is just choosing now to start enforcing them.

It's just like if you spoil a child and then suddenly at age 12 out of no where comes a ton of "insane" rules . Naturally the kid will not like it and throw a tantrum. They may eventually get used to it, but they will harbor a grudge

I pay for 3 accounts as crown players. The filter chat is fine and you get around it pretty well. Only a couple of things such as numbers and city names you cant type. It's overall no problem at all to get your point out.

Okay, this is for 18+, why would a kid have open chat? Bad argument dude.
Also, this is just open chat dude, seriously, calm down. All it is is open chat. At least people who don't pay or buy crowns once a month aren't Menu Chatters only.

I see this coming. As ranked arena is really the main benefit of subscribing, I am noticing that most people are starting to buy crowns. I am one of those people. I subscribed but now revert to crowns. While I will miss open chat, I certainly wouldn't quit. I will miss making faces, and will possibly have to adjust my diction, quitting is not going to solve anything. Besides, another excuse for not seeing all those words, ho ho ho, should be quite a change.

I think one reason that KI changed this is because of the number of younger players who have open chat because they have a credit card on file. Also, this wasn't what KI intended to begin with, it was a bug, that was bound to be fixed.

its not like you cant talk any more, you can still talk fine, and nicer than before as the filter is a really good thing imho

will cut down on the rudeness in game that everyone is complaining about i believe.

Ahhh if only! I was in Stormriven the other day and several people ported in to one player, the rudeness was of a level I have never seen, all via filter chat! I have a year sub so I won't lose my chat status, but I will miss having real talks with my friends. As I too will have to learn that spelling dance for my friends without it now. So it's not just the people losing the ability this will affect. I hate typing one hundred for tea when describing the stats on a pet for instance! Or better still when I typo which I do constantly btw I have to retype the word, come on... ugh

Accounts that are NOT currently subscribed with a credit card will no longer have 18+ open chat. Those accounts will revert to Text Chat. Open Chat is a feature for accounts currently subscribed with a valid Credit Card.

We try to offer a full range of player account options (ie. Credit Cards, PayPal, Gift Certificates, Gift Cards, subscriptions, access passes, free trial, etc). Each of these comes with its own set of benefits and limitations.

For instance, as a crowns player, you have lifetime access to areas purchased. As a credit card subscriber, you’re given the option to enable 18+ chat (if you’re 18+ in age of course).

The fact that some accounts were able to retain their 18+ chat ability even when they were no longer subscribed, was a bug. In an effort to keep the player options equitable for all, we fixed the bug.
