ok when i try downloading it it goes to the extracting part and then after that it says please close adobe updater and i think that is the updater

lol buddy i think he refers to the program in the thread name "photoshop CS4

Adobe updater is automatically installed when you have adobe reader and everyone has adobe reader. You need to stop it running before installing CS4.

On your task bar, go to start menu, programs then 'start up'. You will find the updater loading from there. Just right click and delete that shortcut. It is just a shortcut, you are not deleting the updater.

Reboot your computer and try installing CS4 again. The updater should not load.

This is the safest way if you are not sure what you are doing. It does mean rebooting but you will do no accidental harm this way.
