Well some of our parents (unless you are one) do make us pay for the game. There is NO way that my mom would ever pay for TT (because she didn't). She said that if I want something then I pay for it. The only reason I am complaining is because I and quite a few other people can't afford $120 a year.

      Re: Pricing Model Announcement

A few people have said that they would pay even if it was free, they would make donations.

Honestly, I wouldn't pay anything unless I had to. We all know this game isn't free, (obviously, OP said so) but for those who said they would donate if the game was free, more power to you, but the majority of the people would not.

Also, I don't think most people who are speaking for this company, have ever had much experience in this buisness, yes most of us have paid before for an online game, but what does that have to do with knowning how much they do.

How can anyone except the company itself know:
      1. How much it cost them
      2. How many people that have to pay on staff
      3. How much time it took
      etc...

I am suprised at how many people are speaking for the company, unless you work there, I do not see why you can bring all these "facts" up, when they may or may not be true.

      You're missing something though.

It's only going to be $120-ish per year if you pay by the month.

Yearly subscriptions will be discounted. Again, we'll have to wait and see what the actual price will be and what our other options will be. When everything is released and whatnot, our opinions about the matter may change accordingly.

Until then, I'm of the opinion that we should keep our complaining to a minimum. Because you may be wasting your breath

Well, go to the Options Menu in-game.
Click on the "Credits" button. Thats how many people have put in time to making the game. The graphics are actually very good, better than most of the other games out there, which leads me to believe that alot of time went into the game. We are basing this on fact and reason, and I do not represent the compay in any way, but I do know that nothing is free.

Okay, but how do you know that every single person who gets any income from the game is in the credits? You can't know that.

I don't want to argue over that.

As others have pointed out, if it was cheaper, they would make more money because people would pay to play at a more reasonable rate, then the 1/11 rate of paying $10 a month.

I would consider paying at $5 a month, not $10 though. If they refuse to change their pricing, then I will just settle at free trial.

And they know that, i'm sure. But-- they have up-keeps, web fees, and all sorts of money needed to run a business. Perhaps $10 is the lowest they can go for now.

see that is were you have gone wrong. I know exactly how they make a game. I tried once. For one simple game of chess you needed like seven pages of code I gave up. But for a game like World of Warcraft and W101 it takes years maybe to compile the data needed, run a advert, make a website with a good interface, find staff who are willing to moderate there forums and make sure everyone gets a fair chunk out of the profit.

You can't always assume that people don't know how to do stuff. You'll be very surprised if you do.

Tons of code goes into making a game. And you'll have to dedicate at least 4-12 years for a game like this. It isn't easy. We know that. We all do.

Kingsisle probably kept it at 10.00 for now until they have a solid fanbase and a decent amount of subsctiptions. Then, when they think they have enough, they could lower the price. Or they could keep the price like that forever. Who knows? Now, I'm trusting Kingsisle with what they did for now. Maybe it'll be better for the log run.

POINT 1:I can't stand it when people say nothing is free.

      Sabrina,
Soup Kitchens(although obviously not for people who can afford this game)
      Food samples.
      Maple Story(lol).

I don't even need to add more, because you said

but I do know that nothing is free.
      Keyword NOTHING.

      POINT 2:
Quote Originally Posted by Cookie View Post

I can relate, my parents consider financial responsibility at an early age good. But like LNO said, less than 120, although it'll still most likely be expensive.

POINT 3:Everyone's saying that they'll most likely lower the price once they have a solid fanbase. How will that happen?

As i said before, their X demographic is 8 year olds.

8 year olds with parents who pay for them with less regard than they would for a 13 year old(and I base this on seeing suburban parents a lot). Most of the parents would pay for it simply to get the kids to leave them alone, but just having their child ask politely once is enough. Anything to make their children happy(Once again, I base this upon most of the parents in THIS area who walk around public areas from which I hear snippets of conversation).

Now, how would they get a big solid fan base without commercials? Assuming they're in the red from paying their staff and whatnot, how would they afford a commercial? The beta crew is relatively small, and they've seen the buginess, so word of mouth is out.

Obviously they have a big reserve of money or else this would be a flop from the start. That's usually how it is for medium sized studios.
