Early Release of Game Patch Notes for May 25, 2022.

OMG - @Arwen Mythweaver and I just tried going in to the Lord Nighshade Rematch and DANG! Now we're hanging out in The Commons after being one-shot killed on the first turn.

He's a Rank 20 Boss, with 13,200 Health.

It started with a cheat bubble spell, that I replaced with Sanctuary, and to which he responded with three -100% Tower Shields, Virulent Plague, and what may have been an Insane Bolt that killed us both by doing 24K+ damage.

It all happened so fast, I had to laugh out loud.

So much for farming for spellements... I'd be farming for reagents again to recharge it over and over.

Unless this gives you like 100 spellements all it makes me want to do is spend that 8k crowns so I can farm spllemeents on a low level wizard.

You only receive an assortment of ~10 Spellements per run. So yeah, once again KingsIsle is intentionally making FTP sources of Spellements insanely grindy to incentivize spending on their scam packs. The amount of effort one most put in to complete these duels is in no way comparable to the reward, and I can only hope that KingsIsle will reanalyze their decision here.

Probably another after last cheat idk, I was soloing so I don't know if there's a late cheat either

Also in this patch, Headless Horeman and Loremaster Spellements were added. To me, it looks like the Loremaster upgrade paths are somewhat of a nerf as it removes the signature double debuff effect from the spell. But the Headless upgrade is completely bonkers! This spell is already way above the DPP curve, and to buff it further just contradicts the design philosophy this company has been chasing for 3 years.

Lord Nightshade might not be soloable unless you're a Fire and can spam DoTs on him, otherwise him dealing the damage cap to you every turn makes him virtually impossible to solo. He has more health, can't be outdamaged, and can even damage you with his regular move.

Krokopatra on the other hand is much easier to solo. She hits like a freight train that stops, goes into reverse, and then hits you again. You can't blade, and she Insane Bolts you if you hit her. She did ~2500 to me, and I had 59% Resist. She did have 60% Pierce though.

Gonna try the others.

Edit: Soloed Meowiarty after several tries. It's a tougher fight because you have to defeat him and the Koolakambra minions he spawns twice. I had to quickly AoE the minions away, then focus on him specifically, because the minions love their mantles and stuns.

I also tried the oni fight, but they have so many cheats and it's 4 bosses so I don't even know where to begin with them.

I tried the Jade Oni one with disastrous results. I sent my fire and life in together with my life in his tanking gear. I don't know what kind of pierce they have but they cut right through my resist. I put up an Aegis enhanced blade they double disarmed and got rid of it and put up a -20 weakness. My life put a triblade on the fire, they wiped that out and put up three -20 weaknesses. Blades would stick to all but one, I forget which. I get a shadow pip, the balance oni would steal that. No matter what I did they would counter it and cheat somehow. Sorry but I can't recount everything that they all did. All in all, it was a total disaster. I think I'll save all my remaining reagents for more worthwhile endeavors.

I attempted the Malistare rematch and man that's one crazy fight. How does he resist ice if he's death and fire? His minion, Sylvia Drake in Wraith form, is ice and life so I can see her resisting ice, but Malistare? Not to mention that you'll need someone to spam cleanse charm every turn on your main hitter because Malistare casts a -100% charm every turn Sylvia is still alive. Every. Single. Turn. I haven't tried out using a protected blade, but blades to cause him to remove your blade and give him a death blade. Also, Sylvia will heal Malistare every time he's hit and will revive him as well upon his defeat. She does use sacrifice on herself and dies to give him a +100% blade, but I literally have no idea how many turns that requires for her to activate it. I've seen her maybe use it twice during the entire two hours (maybe two and a half hours as I wasn't paying attention to what time it was when I started) I spent trying to beat them.


These rematch one shots seem to be more like boss revenge one shots. These are crazy hard.

I still don't understand what they were going for with the spellement drops. My lower level didn't have to put in any real work whatsoever. All I did was farm with a high level friend and it's been an absolute breeze getting them.

Compare this to someone who actually has to put in the effort because all their character slots are filled with higher levels. Hunting down Silver chests for just 1? Hunting down cantrips chests for a few? Trying to beat these new bosses for a few? It's all just silly in comparison.

Why didn't they just have arc 1 spellements drop based on the world?

WC could have dropped rank 1-2's
KT could have dropped rank 2-3's
MB could have dropped 3-4's
MS could have dropped 4-5's
DS could have dropped rank 5-6's

I just don't get it.

It doesn't make any sense canonically either! Like, you're telling me that my Wizard who has bested several supreme beings and saved the Spiral 3 times is somehow incapable of extracting Spellements from enemies in the weakest worlds?? ..It's sadly apparent that CrownsIsle would sacrifice common sense for a quick buck.

You can open a cantrips chest for 8 spellements or be frustrated by these new duels which require a full team.

Or skip it all and find a new hobby already, which right now is the most appealing option i can see.

Since I can no longer PvP because I can not read hieroglyphics and there are no guides on the new spells or spellemnts explaining what they do, so honestly spellements are irrelevant.


I could break down and spend 8k crowns to have a low level char, but honestly the game has just become so frustrating lately might be time for another long break

Hold on, you’re telling me that they added Loremaster spellements that almost completely negates the nerf that happened to the card a few years ago? I don’t understand this change at all. If they wanted to unnerf the loremaster card, then it should be universally changed for everyone, not just those who can afford the time and money to obtain these spellements. Those of us who had the spell dropped pre 2020 when the base damage was 390, only for them to nerf it and then add spellements to bring the damage back up just seems like a terrible move in my opinion. It’s quite literally a bait and switch. I really don’t know if I want to keep supporting a company that does this.
