As reported by him earlier today on Twitter Matt will no longer be working at KI. From I've seen so far reactions are mixed to his departure though compared to Renee more seem saddened by it than gladdened.

It's saddening to see Matt leave the team, he was definitely one of the better employees at KI!

Agreed, once is sad, twice is concerning especially within a day of each other. I also note that we have very little information as to why they have left.

Idk how I feel about this, I don't wanna start off the year feeling that something suspicious/fishy is going on. Nothing good ever comes out of heartless rich people, who don't care about anything but profits, pulling the strings over a powerless community who are dependent on them to continue their enjoyment. Mattnettic leaving is bad no matter what if the person/people that are replacing him are worse than he is, and Gamigo is hiring that person specifically so that person would be in the best interest of that company rather than the game itself (or at least this is what I'm assuming is happening)

So if they are hiring so many people how many of the old KI employees are we gonna loose?

I am all for hiring new skilled employees but the more people like Matt and Renee we loose the more and more history and knowledge of what the game was in the past we are also loosing!

I understand Matt and Renee were not part of the company from the very beginning but the game needs to stay grounded to the past, in my opinion.

I would be lying if I said that that these two departures didn't make me a little nervous...

Well, on the one hand, it's the start of the year. Prime time for last days especially if they had time off around the holiday as well as for folks to start new jobs in the new year.

On the other hand, as someone whose company was recently acquired and is having people leaving "all on good terms"... I'm side-eyeing.

Sad to see him go, Mattnetic did more for PvP in the last 2 years than Kingsisle has done in the other 12 years of this game's history. He was very transparent and cared about the game which is something we take for granted sometimes. Good luck on your next journey!

Apparently, the Great Resignation is affecting even smallish video gaming companies. Hopefully, these departures are on the "greener pastures are calling" side rather than the "don't let the screen door hit ya." As Bob Cratchit said (Kermit the Frog version):

"It's all right, children. Life is made up of meetings and partings. That is the way of it."
