"I didn't pull feint on the first turn"

This is prompted by my constant farming of King Detritus, but applies to a myriad of other situations.

How many times did you see something similar to the sentence in the subject? Not much, but enough - and that prolonged the battle, sometimes a little, sometimes by 10 or more turns. So what's the treatment?

Easy: have exactly 7 cards in the deck! Then it fully fits in your starting hand and you don't have to "pull" anything. I know it's scary, but trust your team and plunge into the battle. The plan requires just 2-4 cards from you (potent, feint, sharpen, blade), the rest can be your own blade, epic and hit - just for the peace of mind and for the previous battles there. This is especially true for such farming activities as Yevgeny and King Detritus (by the way, Yevgeny can be done in two turns by the same sequence - 3 feints and frenzy on the first turn, 3 blades and a hit on the second; those stuns are immaterial, and the boss will not have time for other cheats).

Also, pick one hitter, coordinate different boosts and execute the sequence - it's the fastest way, which is paramount for farming.

Not even venting - just writing to hope that someone will read it and see the way 😉, and maybe even spread the knowledge.

Re: "I didn't pull feint on the first turn"

I pretty much stopped caring regardless lol Even with three turns a team could win that battle. I kinda expect there to be some sort of teaching moment for every battle in which I join house with a team up because nothing in the game outlines that the fight is a "feint first turn, blade the hitter second turn and hitter uses their 7pip AoE". I don't really have any expectations for anything anymore but that's kind of been relieving...

Yes, and that's why I usually start to say "I have such and such feint and dark pact for the second turn" - if people don't know, they will start asking questions (hopefully). But that's why I wrote this post - so that someone reads it and becomes a better team player

Yeah I definitely been there. When you're constantly teaming up and finishing runs real quick, eventually you'll get into somewhat of a flow (a lot of the players there are farming Alchemicals for other wizards after all so there's a good population of people who have done the dungeon before and know the drill without ever saying anything). When that flow breaks, it's annoying (like when somebody other than the hitter blades themselves, but then again schools like myth/life have nothing better to do if they didn't learn elemental blade, which I understand). There's also the problem with the tendency of players entering the battle expecting people to understand or be ready, when they're not- causing other players who don't know what they're doing to join battle too in case there was a late cheat errr probably screwing up the order of things due to hesitancy...

Communication is definitely key in the fights before

It happens. If I'm with strangers, it's not really a big deal. If it were that important, I set my deck very specifically to accommodate any strategy. Sometimes it doesn't work out, but I rarely have to restart a battle because of it.

sure 3 turn battles are nice but if someone wants to carry a few more then thats fine its not like 2~3 more round will hurt that much

That's what I always think. People these days are always in a rush, especially when on a farming spree. If having that 3 turn kill is that important to you then stick with the same group of people. I personally like taking my time farming since sometimes I'll watch a youtube video that's been sitting in my watch later folder while doing so. I also don't get tired of farming the same boss forever by doing so (though I normally stick to the ones that are monstrology compatible to be productive for future uses, particularly in the Catacombs).

The problem is that this particular battle is either done in 2-3 turns or drags for 10-15 or more, and the team might easily be defeated as the damage output from the boss is really high. But, like I said, I did not write this post to vent - more to yet again raise awareness to the possibility of the short decks and working as a team. I did solo it once just on principle (8 or so buffs work just fine), but I'm not looking forward to repeat the experience.

Moreover, King Detritus is farmed for hundreds (and eventually thousands) of reagents, and it means dozens and dozens of runs, going into hundreds. Since this is the only reason to every run beyond the first, in theory all participants are interested in a speedy run.

Yevgeny, whom I also mentioned, is farmed fewer times, as the drop rate of the athame is not that low as to require hundreds of runs - but once we get the strategy down cold with King Detritus, it is only logical to extend this knowledge to other similar battles. If the hitter uses Frenzy or, say, 0-pip (potentially potent - pun intended) school trap and not a blade on the first turn, this approach works exactly the same. I know that everyone's knee-jerk reaction to that battle is Conviction TC on the first turn, but as the time goes on and the new strategies emerge, we should learn to reassess the old ones.
My wizards: Corwin Swiftcatcher (Death), Alexandra Winterflower (Ice), Darby Firebreeze (Fire), Katie Wildheart (Storm), Heather (Life), Sarah LionHeart (Myth).
