It surprised me to see how many players the game still contained and made me feel a lot better about my decision to purchase the subscription. It's been a blast so far to quest through Grizzleheim on my Storm wizard, and so far have no regrets. I think the game definitely has enough content for it to be worth it, especially if you have unfinished wizards and projects. Thank you all for your input, and I am sorry to say I doubted the game.

P.s. A thing that I had noticed that changed that I am not the largest fan of was to critical. Why is it a separate chance to double damage on each enemy for AoE hits? It makes PvE battles so much more of a nuisance . Secondly, there are many new spells trainable in Ravenwood! I really love all of these additional trainable spells and think these were a great choice to include.
I am glad you are happy with your decision. When you first started this thread, I was hesitant about it becoming another moan and groan; but it turned into a really good discussion of the subject unlike previous threads.

As @Willowdreamer pointed out, it really is an indivdual decision based on what you are looking for from it. You brought people together and collected valid opinions from different views and made the best decision for yourself.

I hope you continue to enjoy your future adventures in W101, and I hope you will share the highlights with us in the future.

I play almost everyday. Gardening, watching, participating in PVP, farming, assisting other wizzy's and chatting. I haven't done any BOX events or beastmoon and other new things. I will be hitting all those when I retire.
You absolutely want to do Five B.O.X.E.S.! When asked "what's your favorite world" my answer is consistently "inside the Professor's telegraph box". These quests are well written and fun. No, they don't give any really useful gear but they are fun to run through, and reveal bits of background lore you won't see anywhere else. The vendor that gives recipes for the two pogo stick mounts is in there, if you have ever wanted to make one of those. The best part, to me. is the cool badges you can get -- since many people don't do five boxes the badges stand out a bit from the usual crowd.

So that is where the pogo stick mounts are. Thanks!

Re: Is Wizard101 Worth Playing in 2021?

I started playing w101 in 2011, this game will forever have a place in my heart. I personally think that it's still worth playing purely based on the fact that the game holds so many memories and I can re-visit places and a wave of nostalgia will wash over me. I think if you've been playing for as long as I have it's completely worth it. Only downside is that so many of my old friends have quit playing and now that I'm older (21) I feel that it's really hard to meet players my age. I don't have anyone to create memories and journey through the spiral with anymore. Making friends is really hard, it is technically a kids game. If I could find players my age I would 100% play more often. There's just something about the game that always draws me back. Ik the OP has already responded back and started playing again, but if anyone see's this please feel free to message me! Especially if you're looking for a friend!

I haven't been seriously involved in the game (other than logging in once in a blue moon) for about 2-3 years now and am considering retrying the game. Something that I can recall heavily pushing me away from the game was just how expensive it was to continue to play the game. If I do end up retrying it, I would likely only buy a membership. Another reason is that I was just more drawn to other popular titles, such as osu! (specifically mania), Valorant, and Minecraft, who did not contain paywalls. What would be some reasons/factors that I should consider before making a decision to purchase a membership or not?

It depends on whether or not you are willing to invest the time and resources.

Near the middle of 2020, the idea of spellments came into the game; where you have the ability to upgrade your spells with either greater damage or sacrifice hit points for easier access to casting the card.

I've upgraded a few (Day Bringer, Night Bringer, Sound of Musicology, Grrranideer, among others), and the idea of spell writing is kinda fun.

Hey @Estrith! I've been playing since 2012 and don't have any friends still playing (I'm 18), so I'd love to play with you at some point! I am in Australia though so time zones might be a bit difficult if you're in the US
