Update on the Dev response- it looks like drop rates are going to be increased. We also have more insight into the Devs view of crafting.

This is great news. Thank you Eric for taking time out of your day and weekend to put all of this together. It's a great example of how to get something done in the game we all love.
I understand where the Devs are coming from on the reagent farming. To me, it's almost like they consider the Karamelle chunk as a piece of Uber gear with just a slightly better drop rate. As your battling/farming for your gear, you get a chunk or two from time to time. Over the course of many boss fights and Uber drops along the way you'll probably find yourself with enough chunks to craft a piece or two. Not an alternative to farming, but possibly a nice reward near the end of your journey.

Maybe they should do a poll on "Why Players Craft Items?"
For some of us, Crafting is actually a side activity that really doesn't happen whether we farm for gear or not, but because we simply enjoyed and preferred it. Making Crafting more difficult because the gear is equivalent to farmed gear and we'll only need/want to make one piece that we don't get from a boss drop makes no sense to me. What about the housing items in Karamelle?
The Crafting recipe costs and requirements have gotten way out of hand, value of Crafted Items is ridiculous from world to world, and it doesn't sound like the current development team understands it at all.

I couldn't have said it better myself. The crafted Karamelle and Empyrea housing items have ridiculously insane recipes, that it makes me legitimately wonder if anyone has even bothered to create any of these items. I mean, who would bother spending hours of their life grinding just to make a Candy Apple stand or Beastman Chair?
These are purely aesthetic items, so I find it hard to unearth any reason why the Dev Team wants them to be beyond impossible to craft. Its just more evidence that the Dev team doesn't test their own droprates out themselves before Live Realm hits!

I can't imagine the Devs actually having time to test all of the changes they push out, I mean the drop rates are so low for this reagent that they probably didn't get it to drop for themselves lol
Unfortunately, unless there are more developers/testers added to the team, they will likely continue to miss problems like this until a good majority of people calls it to action. Now will the recent acquisition improve this? Who knows...
