Hello everyone! It is my great pleasure to announce that Sir Reginald Baxby has accepted an interview by me. Sir Reginald Baxby is the zebra that can be found in Golem Court, the Oasis, and Reagents Square. He has been kind enough to accept an interview, and I greatly thank him.
1) For people who don't know your job at KingsIsle, please explain it briefly.
A: I am lead client software engineer at Wizard101. I write new code and fix bugs in that component of the game that runs on the players' computers. My most recent major contribution is the majority of the code that handles mount in game.
2) Which world of the Spiral does your zebra character come from?
A: This a very distant world that most has never heard and now even a way to get there is forgotten. When I say where I from, everyone goes like "Huh? Where is it?". So, I stop saying that and now I am telling everyone that I don't remember.
3) In the game, you only have one line that you say to characters about "unique items." I have heard that in Beta you gave out quests. Please explain a little about these quests.
A: I was sending young wizards to fight unique and fearsome monsters and was offering nice rewards for that. But many of the wizards had not returned and I don't know what happened to them. Since that I decided not to endanger the students with such dangerous tasks.
4) Do you think that you will be having a role later in the game?
A: I hope so.
5) What do you love most about your job?
A: I love to hear how many people are excited about Wizard101 and how they all think what a cool game it is!
6) What do you like least about your job?(you don't have to answer this if you don't want)
A: I hate to wait for the compilation process to end, so I can test that awesome feature I just implemented.
7) Explain a typical day at KingsIsle.
You come to work. You have a task. You work on the task. It does not sound exciting much, but it is what it is - game making is a work.
8) Do you have a wizard/ do people know you're a member of KingsIsle?
Yes, I do have a wizard and I had not tell anyone yet in game who I actually am.
9) Do you have a chance to play Wizard101 at KingsIsle Entertainment?
Ocassionally, yes.
10) What major changes has KingsIsle gone through that you think are better for the game?
KingsIsle as a company has grown a lot since the launch of Wizard101. We have learned a lot and are applying all that new knowledge toward Wizard101 to make it even more fun and interesting to play. We have a lot of talented programmers, artists and designers and all that learning make us even more stronger as a team.
11) I'm not sure if you can answer this, but will a new world be coming out soon?
There are still many worlds on the Spiral, most are still undiscovered. Patience, young Wizard, your adventures are not over.
12) Same as above - will the level cap be raised soon?
As I said, the adventures are not over yet!
13) What has been the hardest thing that KingsIsle had to face with Wizard101?
Unexpectedly high number of people who loves Wizard101! I am kidding. I can't really think about what was the hardest. We were prepared very well when Wizard101 launched and so far we had not encountered any impossible difficulties.
14) There's a fifth island in Krokotopia that is inacessible. Will players get a chance to vist it one day?(I'm not sure if you can answer this)
Oh, yeah, you are right! I never thought about it. Seems the passage way to that island has been forgotten. Perhaps the Marleybonians will unearth more information in their diggings throughout Krokotopia.
15) Do you play any other games besides for Wizard101?
Of course! I play a lot of games, I spent most of my spare times on them. Which is my favorite? Wizard101, of course!
16) Do you have any secret strategies or tidbits that might help players?
Just keep playing! Keep your eyes open on what is going on around you and learn from that. If I may quote one famous movie character: "There is no secret ingredient!"
17) Do you have any questions for me?
A)What do you do in your real life? What is your most favorite thing about Wizard101? What is your least favorite thing about Wizard101? If you are to request one new feature for Wizard101, what would it be?
My answer) As for your question, my first answer would be a new world/level caps, but I know KingsIsle is working on that. I was thinking that perhaps we can make our houses bigger, such as adding property to our houses, or perhaps being able to interact with furniture like we can interact with the mannequins. In real life, I go to school, come home, do my homework, eat supper, do more homework, go to bed. On the weekends I play Wizard101! My most favorite thing about Wizard101 are the dungeons! I know this sounds weird, but the bosses give awesome drops, and anything I don't need I can sell at the Bazaar for gold. With my gold, I can purchase mounts, houses, equipment, and so on... My least favorite thing is waiting for the next major update. Other than that, I don't have a least favorite thing for this game!
Also, this wasn't a question in the interview, but Sir Reginald Baxby said in this thread in one of his posts that he can transform into Cyrus Drake with his KingsIsle account! Just wanted to tell you guys that in case you don't read the posts. I found that very interesting and cool.
also, he said that on his account that he plays when he's not at work he does not use any cheats. i think that is super of him!
Again, I'd like to thank Sir Reginald Baxby for all his time he put into this. It was very kind of him, and I thank him a lot. His job at KingsIsle is an amazing one; without him, there would be bugs and glitches all over Wizard101!
