      KI answers why energy did not increase with new lvl cap

      Hi everyone

      Theres been a minor but but debatable change with energy. Typically, every 10 levels, our energy increased by 4 (or 5 I think) but with the new karamelle lvl cap, it did not increase this time.

      We finally hear an answer by one of the most popular devs on twitter

      I am against KingsIsle's decision to not up our energy. They have made Pet hatching much more difficult and expensive gold wise, not to mention all of the SoF events that are a massive drain on our energy pool! It is impossible in this game to manage a garden, fish, and train pets, even with a decent energy pet/gear. If KingsIsle is expecting us to buy into the constantly shifting Pack energy gear that gets updated quite often, then I say no way!

      Well that bites energy should rise to 140. For players without energy gear that's pretty low when you consider people might want to fish, garden and pet train.

      A bunch of questions are still left unanswered though.

      How much energy does Ki think that a reasonable garden should take for the average player (given that gardening is a daily activity)?

      How much energy does Ki think should cost to reasonably train a pet to get reasonably good talents for the average player (given that ideally this is also a daily activity, to train a hatched pet from Baby-Adult so it is ready to hatch)?

      Given that the player is spending X amount of energy gardening and X amount of energy pet training every single day, is there enough energy for the player to also do Fishing?

      I feel like there's a lot of individual difference here but I feel like @JaredSpellFrost is right though, given that the player is actively committed to gardening and a pet project as both daily activities, there's little energy left for fishing and a lot of players find great joy in the fishing mechanic. I don't think that 140 energy is going to be enough for a player with no capability of receiving energy gear (given they haven't reached Mirror Lake and Darkmoor to simply farm for an energy upgrade). It is crossing the line to force players to purchase with crowns some sort of energy gear just so they can reasonably play all mechanics of the game...

      I'm not going to say that the energy total should infinitely go up with level but I feel like it should be to the very least over 140 because it is not just a side thing going on for the majority of players, it's a daily routine that comes with playing the game that a lot of players take seriously.

      So essentially, we are going to make the number 1 energy activity but not increase the "stat" that fuels that activity?

      Does not quite add up to me. I don't understand why they would just all of a sudden just drop a pattern after how many years?

      I guarantee they will still be making plenty off of energy elixirs if they increase it by 10...

      Case in point @Sparck,

      A few months ago my Life Wizard spent about 3 weeks caring for a garden.

      I had maybe 11 Red Bell Peppers. 3 Agora Bunnies and 1 Baby Carrot.

      Even with casting the large sun rays, large downpour and the doing a medium magic on the Agora Bunnies, with the occasional reviving on RBP, I barely had 30 Energy points left.

      And since Karamelle had not come online yet, my Life was maxed out and I had to wait an entire day to properly care for my plants.

      We don't mind having the fishing, gardening and pet training using the same pool of resources, but something has to give for many of us to participate in all the side content, when we have nothing else to do in game.

      That's such a great point. From Wizard City through to Empyrea, KI has not only given us new badge titles for completing the storyline quests, they have also increased our health, base pip chance (up until 40%), mana (up until 150), and max energy. For those of us who stay in our energy gear 10/12 months of the year, the energy cap seems like a huge slap in the face to those of us who already spent (and continue to spend) money on pack energy gear, and possibly hundreds or thousands of energy elixirs.

      On a side note, there are a few differences between the power pip/mana cap and the energy cap. One, you can run around common areas in all of the worlds to collect mana orbs, as well as buy potions for as little as 3500 gold each at max level. Energy you can't. Two, you can easily increase your pip chance with gear, and the results are instant. Energy, you have to spend real money to get good energy gear (unless you decide to farm spiral cup, grand tourney, or five boxes), and the results are not instantaneous - you have to wait 7.5 minutes per 1 energy to add (for members. 10 minutes for ftp players). And three, KI knows what elixir is the cash cow. They know that mana and power pip elixirs are "totally eclipsed" by the good (or bad) ol' energy elixirs.

      The marketing team seems to have a solid grasp on the devs (well....since 2018), and it's kind of easy to see.

      Unimpressed with these apologetics as well for many of the same reasons others have listed.

      Let's look at the scenario that was put forth: stats increase to compensate for increased difficulty.

      Likewise if they want increased participation in gardening, fishing, training, then they better increase the energy.

      My first thought was, "How does 130 energy equate to 130 minutes of play time?" That is not an apt correlation.

      I can spend 130 energy in about 15-20 minutes of play. Ten additional energy evaporates in exactly one Gardening spell or pet game, not even 1 minute of game time.

      I think @SeptenaryRavens has the better explanation.
