Critical?

Is critical messed up or is it just me? It says I went critical, then does normal damage on HALF the mob. Or I do a single hit and it says I went critical, but does my normal damage. It doesn't happen every time, but enough that it's annoying. And, before you ask, NO, they didn't block. I'm currently at Loremaster. They DON'T block.

I 100% understand these explanations, but what I don't understand is why mobs in the first arc now seem to have some sort of block rating. I was farming Loremaster on my 130 ice wizard (who has roughly 560 critical rating, 130% damage, 30% pierce), and even with a critical using the Ice Wyvern item card from the Dragoon Amulet, the Font of Life (WITHOUT an absorb on) only did the amount of damage I would have done without a critical (~1400 hp or 1x). Then on the ice mob, it did close to 2x even with the 10% remaining resist (~2500 hp or almost 2x). These numbers also fluctuated every fight with all the enemies (ie. Font of Strength would sometimes resist critical a bit, sometimes I could hit Loremaster for the full 2x, sometimes I couldn't). Like Morgan said below, they did NOT block, nor did they have block before the update.

Ok that's good to hear. I quoted everyone since my concern was the gist of Morgan's too. The explanations on how the new system works weren't the answer to our concerns.

KI making changes during a test realm, not perfecting them during the test realm and rushing it to live realm, never :P.

There's always bugs even if reported on in test that goes live. Sounds like typical inept KI devs as usual. Makes you wonder why they have a test realm in the first place, when they can't fix anything properly before going live.

Typical case of snake biting own tail.

KI needs to check for bugs on a new feature -> load a test realm -> to access TR players need an active account -> few players go to test realm -> few people go to TR -> bugs are not addressed -> KI see nobody on test realm, closes it and goes live -> people complain that KI needs to check for bugs on new features -> rince and repeat as much as you want.

It does sound unusual but Kingsisle doing Test Realm stuff in Live Realm is the only thing they could do. The popularity of live realm vastly exceeds the population of players in Test Realm and due to this higher population in Live Realm, the developers will be more apparent to the bugs that were not reported in Test Realm. Reporting bugs in Live Realm is simply because there are not enough players in Test Realm anymore than there used to be and not as many people are likely to report as many bugs. I think they just quickly pieced together the Karamelle update into live anticipating that there are bugs that they didn't look for in Test Realm, thinking they'll just directly fix them while in Live Realm...

I think Test Realm is built for something like big bugs such as not being able to Log on to the game at all. At that point, the company could lose a drastic amount of players if that was the problem coming into Live Realm. Other such cases could be being blocked from entering a area or being unable to progress because the completion of a quest is bugged. Anything so major that it will deter a player from ever playing should be fixed in a test realm setting...
