I don't think I could ever invest in spending copious amounts of real money on pack gear. Just from looking at the past, change will always be constant in this game. Gear always changes around 2-3 years. Some pieces will last longer, but no one really can know for sure if it will, until it does.
In my opinion, pushing pack gear sets or anything that's essentially "the best gear" in a paywall is simply not sustainable, and carries a heavy backlash with it in future changes. There's a fine line to providing people choices to win in a game, and I hope Kingsisle finds better ways of providing that to the player base besides the insane marketing they've been doing this past quarter. I really do feel bad for those that have invested this time and/or money for their perfect sets. It's like adding a new talent slot to a pet, only for it to fail at mega-ultra. Having to restart over, as I'm sure we all know, is just the freaking worst.
Some things I can see as being a better cost-benefit is updating game mechanics in a new direction or gameplay style (besides turn-based or critical), something that challenges and improves our current system. They could always raise zone-area pricing, make the entirety of Wizard City (besides high-level zones) free, and/or raise subscription cost. They could also keep the classic Crown/Sub sales that they've done in the past (i.e. 60,000 crowns for $60). Just mythough.
Implementing school-specific specialties is great and can be done (with care), but can we get back to being actual wizards?I guess there's only so much lore out there to take/implement. It's hard to see these spells as being.. actually powerful... (flinging a smore? really?) I love the creativity, but I'd like to summon Giants or Warlords at this point in my studies lol (just a personal preference though!)

Yes, you can block your own crit heals. Crit is changing across the board based on target block.
@Eric Stormbringer posted this bit of information from Twitter yesterday.

I know you think Eric works for KI but, I have known him for several years and I can assure you, he does not. He is just very good at what he does and knows very well how to calculate the numbers.
Things change. I don't and won't waste real money of buying the best crowns gear and I won't chase after top dropped gear in the game.

I agree with one thing whole heartily. If an investment was made in good faith, and the terms were changed by one party without consent of the other party, then that stinks. That is not right.
KI will say under the terms of the agreement, you don't even own your character - they do. We are merely renting, improving and maintaining our wizards. We really don't own them.
Yes, that stinks. I didn't like it when I spent all the gold keys to get rampage, only to have it change.
This is KI flexing it's muscle for a future we don't really understand, and something we need to live with.
I would suggest taking your name literally, (Lethargy: A pathological state... of unresponsiveness) and just chill.
Dude, it truly stinks, and I feel your pain. Especially if you invested hard currency to acquire the gear.
The Terms of the agreement is the ultimate scoreboard.
Just my thoughts.

I feel like you're massively overreacting over a 30% or so reduction to critical damage and probable similar reduction to mob health. You don't need to act like you're being personally attacked and shout about how KI is lying to us or whatever because your criticals will do a little less damage. Frankly I haven't been too worried about my critical since Polaris came out. The fact that each enemy can independently block makes it too unreliable for hitting effectively with how blades multiply together.
"Fire can be quenched. Storms can dissipate. Myths can simply be forgotten. But Death... Death is constant. Death has existed long before you came to be and it will exist long after it takes you."
Soooo judging by the new critical system is it really dead or not lol. Cause I got an all damage pet and an all critical pet and I got to know which one I’m gonna use. The critical one gives me 100% critical but the damage one only gives me 74% so if critical dead then I can just use my damage one.
Since when do lost souls critical?
