Unless somebody at KingsIsle somehow convinces a genie to enact a new "Golden Age," there is no chance that KingsIsle will see a massive rebound. I remember one of the employee reviews of KingsIsle on an outside site said that they were seeing a 5% monthly reduction of active Players, and although activity has gone up with the Pandemic- I doubt that this small boost can offset years of degradation and poor decision making.
Although some content released by KingsIsle over the past few years has been positive, the recent changes to Pets, Spells and continued ignorance of wanted/needed changes has displayed an uncanny level of incompetence from the KI Devs. The Marketing department isn't any help either- every week we see new pointless and scammy promotions that prey on younger Players. And of course this is all occurring with zero Classic Crown Sales in over a year and a lot less desirable sales like Pack-a-Palooza!
For me, KingsIsle entered a new age when the Night-Knight event was first released. That event for me marked the end of an era and the entering of a new, money hungry age. It has been nothing but downhill since then!
Also, one last thing- how can we claim that KingsIsle is in a "golden age" when Pirate101 has clearly been neglected for years?

It's that the Covid-19 Pandemic happened at a poor time where a greater influx of players were introduced to a very poor time in the game a little before or after the spring update had occurred but the marketing team had already been directly scamming away people's money and now that these people are likely apparent to this corruptive business venture, is the popularity rise from the pandemic going to fall short and likely return the game to lower popularity in competition to more mainstream multiplayer games like Among Us or Fall Guys. Sure a lot of people stay because of the connectiveness between players as it is still an MMORPG, that's certainly not enough to keep people online if they cannot play this game financially... But at least the Devs are trying to make better changes to this game in spite of the backlash towards the KI marketing team
I really hope other new changes to the game with the future of the game in general happens because some of the changes I really don't think will retain playability in the coming years such as costing ~100,000 gold for a kiosk hatch and low drop rates from Loremaster (which I hope will be divided into several different bosses with a more reasonable drop rate). It's totally ok to fix past updates that weren't so high quality!!!

Let's all take a moment of silence to honor a casualty of this renewed Wizard101 development success.......Pirate101.
Most of the recent transparency, story/lore updates and developer communication is a direct result of basically getting rid of the MMO team and realigning developers like Ratbeard from Pirate101 to Wizard101. Old Pirate101 players will always cherish the developer interactions on the forums regarding combat systems and story theories.
Yes, the sales team direction over the last year is the last obstacle for a true Wizard101 rebirth.
I"m still waiting on some changes to the robo chat cop to return
Pirate is much easier to have an innocent conversation on without being censored
I'd rather be a could-be if I cannot be an are; because a could-be is a maybe who is reaching for a star. I'd rather be a has-been than a might-have-been, by far; for a might have-been has never been, but a has was once an are. ~ Milton Berle
Take what I write with some caution, because I'm no definitive source on this type of knowledge, but:
Ratbeard appears to have joined the KI team sometime at the beginning of Pirate101 (i.e. he was likely specifically hired to make the combat systems for Pirate101). At some point between 2017 and 2019, he was moved over to the mobile games division....and I have no idea what he did during that timeframe. He briefly returned to Pirate101 in 2019 to fix some bugs/issues, but has been with Wizard101 since about May of 2019. He's first task was creating the Deckathalon event and working Beastmoon. Below is the KI video that introduced Ratbeard to the Wizard101 team:
Sooo, I'm not sure how much of an og he is but regardless, he is a king.

For KI to eclipse the previous Golden Age of Wizard101, they would have to overcome the popularity of the first arc when it first came out in 2008-2009; and out do themselves with the Astral schools Arc of Celestia-Arcanum and the reunion of Spider and Raven at the end of Empyrea.
The Arcanum Scholars have yet to resolve their issues with the Cabal splinter groups, as well as resolve the Forbidden Wing of the Arcanum; much less find the base of operations for the Cabal.
I loved the story lines of all 3 arcs, but I'd like to see levels go up more than 10 levels at a time.
Radiance Reborn dealt with the issue of how Morganthe became the 2nd arc villain during our second battle as Morganthe, followed by the desecration of Malistaire to destroy Azteca, where we dealt with Malistaire, once and for all in Darkmoor.
And midway through The Hive of Khrysalis, we unleash Spider from his prison and deal with Rat, Scorpion and Spider by the end of Empyrea in Arc 3 with Spider and Raven reunited and unwilling to be involved with the Spiral any longer.
I am constantly somewhat amazed at how KI manages to create new storylines, that add to the current content, but I am getting tired of having only ten new levels and maxing out my wiz halfway through the new content and losing out on experience.
I miss the days when the entire world came out at once, not piece meal; but it could possibly start a timing when Karamelle and other worlds of Arc 4, might have 3 parts to it instead of 2.
