It seems like KI is more into sweeping things under the rug than putting things into the history books. KI can say how "unintentional" double seeds are now, but that's not going to erase the 3 years where it was intentional. KI can't erase history.
But I guess all we can do at this point is put that tidbit of info into our history books.
Even Professor Greyrose confirmed the Double Seeds in this thread on January 26, 2015. It seems the newer staff/Devs are taking all the real member benefits out of the game.

True, but you aren't going to tell your kids they can have a cookie then turn around and tell them you did not intend to say that either.
Sadly, we did have double seeds since 2015 which was, as mentioned above, confirmed by Professor Greyrose. Then 3-4 years later with a new staff tell us that was not intended.
Too many other things have been changed too that have been much better than what we have now. It makes me wonder what they will pick next and say it was not intended.
Member Benefits should be an incentive for more players to become members instead remaining crowns players. But, instead of leaving those incentives in place, KI has chosen to remove some of the most enjoyed and claim they were never intended.
My grandson has not played in about 3 months. If he can't build a garden and have the mega snacks to train new pets, he has no incentive or desire to play. My 3rd account is now a cardholder. I won't waste time on it either. Those 2 accounts no longer need a sub.

I actually complained to Customer Support that I was not receiving Double Garden Rewards. I even attached a Very Detailed Powerpoint!
They referred me to Sparks post about the "changed" to Double Garden Rewards.
I found this whole experience funny in a strange way kinda like falling down in front of strangers, you get up laughing but you are so hurting ... and there is nothing you can do about it!

Yes, it's a new team with new ideas. As much as we cry and complain (don't get me wrong, I'd like to see the double seeds back too) they aren't going to reverse their decision. As @Yuna stated in another post, and I have to agree with her, it wasn't a very good business decision and it was a loss of revenue to give us Crown seeds for nothing.
I agree. I was floored when it was announced everything doubled. The decision to rip the bandaid off quickly to fix it is one approach (and perhaps the easiest/cleanest). That said:
- You really don't need 1,000 EMPs to raise good pets. I had a handful of them on each account, supplemented with CPs, and PBCs all in a large spell radius and made pets just fine.
- PvP seeds like Sunions, Ivy League, etc. can now be farmed practicably along with EMPs now, so I see that as KI's solution to the double gardening change.
However, there are other gardening objectives that are left wanting:
- The jewel seeds are a big differentiator and no way to replicate that now for the extra stats. And those are a big deal. I have to guess at this point they wish they hadn't put them in the game at all. Perhaps after they get done with the spells, they will revisit the jewels. They need an overhaul.
- I still hope they will at some point consider doubling the seeds that were rewards, not returns. This change really blew up the one fun garden update they've made in years in particular with the ultra seeds.
There are a few others, but those I see as the major ones.
EDIT: While I have trouble with the "never intended" language as well, I do think some of their policies resulted in unintended consequences -- including double crowns seeds. But at this point, KI clearly does not endorse the idea of walking back the language or a return to the previous benefit. At this point, I think it's better to look forward.
