Advantages between 1st Gen and 2nd Gen Pets

Hello, I seen that this area was about pets and their abilities, and have a question:

What are the advantages of having a 2nd Gen pet besides a higher proof/defy score?

Reason I ask, is that all of my wizards have an Enchanted Armament pet because of the Sharpened Blade.

Upside/Downside of the 2nd Gen pets? Does any of them offer something better than Sharpened Blade?

Re: Advantages between 1st Gen and 2nd Gen Pets

Aside from higher stats for things like resist and damage talents and lower cost to cheer/more starting power in the pet derby the main draw for a particular pet (1st gen or otherwise) is its card(s) and/or appearance, both of which are down to personal preference.

I don't do the pet derby or PVP, I mostly do quests solo or in groups, I like being able to have the best stats on pets with proof and defy.

Talon, my Death wiz, had hatched his Enchanted Armament with a Death Armaments and tomorrow I will find out what became of that hatch.

All of my wiz have 1st Gen Max Stat pets that I know of at the moment, and I was kinda experimenting with my pets amid gameplay.

Second generation pets tend to have higher stats so it affects derby powers as well stats that boost wizard talents such as spell proof. But i personally use first generation pets when possible in order to hatch desired talents especially when all the talents are present i find it limits chances of manifested sticky talents going to the offspring. Also it helps to know there one clean pool.

Again whether or not a pet card is better for you than sharpened blade is comes down to personal preference as the only thing higher pet stats do is grant higher boosts to stat altering talents (which by the way also apply to PvE) and costs to cheer and starting morale in the pet derby.

Re: Advantages between 1st Gen and 2nd Gen Pets

I have seen some rather interesting pets over the past few years that got my interest like a Raging Bull for Fire and some sort of Thunder Bull for Storm, and I've even seen some type of Death Saurus for Death students.

I realize that I might be limited in my options with the Enchanted Armament pet, but I am interested on idea options with such pets as the Raging and Thunder Bulls.

I have every school, but Myth; with my Ice and Life Wizards having access to the Drains in Golem Court, my Storm and Balance in the Notochord of Empyrea, and mt Fire and Death still in Mirage.

I'm not sure if its me or not with my pet selections all being Enchanted Armaments; but I am looking for pet selections that might be better suited for my gameplay.
