Re: MEMBER BENEFIT- Double Gardening 7/31-8/4

I've only got around 50 mega snacks left after all my recent pet projects so this helps a bit. I hope I can make it to elder if I plant some new ones right away.

Double Gardening was introduced with it doubling seeds, and continued doing so for years. If this was never "intended" as KingsIsle claimed, then I find it incredibly difficult to swallow that they let it go for all that time.

FTUE stands for "First Time User Expierence". The updates to Triton Avenue, Unicorn Way, Cyclops Lane and Firecat Alley were all designed to improve gameplay for new Players. However, I find it ironic that KingsIsle focuses on "FTUE" whilst removing double seeds as it makes starting out much more tedious.
Although you can easily farm Couch Potato and EMP seeds in Mirage and Empyrea, new Players don't have that option. A pet is the single most important piece of gear a Wizard can own. But grinding through the first two Arcs without a sustainable source of Mega Snacks and gold for creating a pet is the very opposite of FTUE in my eyes!

It was definitely intended at the start. It's just that they didn't realize, as you said, how bad of a business decision it was at the time. I get why they changed it so I don't really fault them for it and would much rather have this benefit show up more often instead of the old one that would only pop up once or twice a year.

Re: MEMBER BENEFIT- Double Gardening 7/31-8/4

I agree with @JaredSpellFrost, whether the double seeds come back or not, KI definitely messed up. New players can't go to Empyrea or Mirage or wherever you guys are suggesting to go farm for CP's (except for Grizzleheim, of course, but the drop rate there is bad).

I'm ok if it's only a chance at double seeds. That seems like a reasonable compromise. But no double seeds is ridiculous if they're really trying to improve the new player experience. Especially when they waited years to change double seeds.

Only the members would benefit from the double seeds anyway, so I don't understand why this problem can't be fixed.

To me it seems like a great monetary tool too- I’m mainly a crowns player, but if double seeds ever rolled around, I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase a membership as well. I won’t be ever spending crowns on seeds, but I would spend money on a membership for even the chance of double seeds.

I doubt that we will ever see "Double" Gardening like it once was, despite universal push for it to return sadly. I think that it is more realistic to push for a chance that you will double seeds, rather than a guarantee.

KingsIsle, if you are listening-we need to see double seeds return somehow! The "FTUE" for new gardeners is exponentially more difficult now, as they cannot double seeds. I shudder to think how many weeks of farming it would require to amass 69 Couch Potato Seeds by farming the Troubled Bears in Grizzleheim... Gardening unlocks the door to pet hatching, a steady gold income*, crafting, decorating, and so much more.
To claim that you care about "FTUE" but then do away with Double Gardening is a fallacy, and one that must be corrected.

*This alone allows Players to start practically anything that requires gold, which is huge!
I'm with you on the return to double seeds but I think we will never see that again. For those of us lucky enough to have been there were very fortunate. Having said that I like most of those back in the day had to farm Grizzleheim, so know that grind so well. I spent 6-8 hours I guess, every week before Double Gardening for months and months, having roughly 90 CP by then. By the end of the first Double gardening I had about 360 CP. God knows how many I had by the last official benefit!

I do feel sorry for every new player because that was an incredible benefit but equally we had to make money for pets, grind for seeds etc. Perhaps going backwards to how we managed will help those new players. I gardened Prickly Bear Cactus on all my small wizards to give me a few extra 25xp snacks and the small snacks kept me in hatching money. I grew gardens of corn bread fruit bush for a 20% chance of Golden Wheat Bread snacks too. i know it's hard work but it is doable.

It was intended and was asked on the official forum during the first Double Gardening event. Professor Greyrose IIRC said that was intended.
