Khrysalis fishing woes

I got my Dekoi, although since my fishing bonus reset when I couldn't catch this Shrimp it's hard to get excited about it, and while I was there I figured I'd give it another whirl.

Decked out in my fishing gear, soaked in a Minor Fishing Luck elixir, I took my +80 luck and cast my common lure at not one but TWO Rank 3 Storm shadows and....of course, they both got away.

For those keeping score at home, that's now 0-22.

To your question, @richardDkht, yes, I've mixed it up some - in my record of futility I don't include the 5 times that fish got away because I mashed my space bar either too early or too late. So yes, I've tried some variations, but for the most part I'm doing exactly what I've always done to catch the other 12K+ fish I've caught.

As an added insult to injury, this morning I finally heard back form K I Support on this ticket I submitted 5/16.

Life is grand when catching a fish in a game is a source of dismay, but this fish - this SHRIMP - has become my White Whale and my only hope is things end up better for me than they did for old Ahab.

One thing that may be a last resort that I've noticed at times may help; uninstall and reinstall Wiz101. Honestly I'm not sure if this would help anything, but there have been a few times in my 11 yrs of playing that there are the strangest bugs that only I run into, and no one else. Often a clean uninstall and reinstall would fix this, but it can be such a pain as everything has to load again in the game.

There is a bonus however; when the game is still trying to load all its files, you'll see the loading circle on the left side (sometimes two). If you go into a fishing area that you know the epic fish can spawn at, the game will load the files for that epic fish (that contain it's name) on your screen (very quickly!) if it's in the pond. If it's not spawned in the pond, it won't load its specific files.

You probably already knew all this, but if not I thought I'd just share. Perhaps Sparck can look into it further beyond support, I'm not really sure what else can fix this.

have been trying for Butterfly Shrimp since update...luck is 78% with elixir. Have lost count of how many energy and fishing elixirs i have used. or number of purple grunions i have caught. i am level 12 so i do know how to fish. this is the only fish i am missing. it is a bug and ki sent me here after contacting them...i have use both spots in lost wood. so what to do

Can you share a screenshot of your fishing equipment, like @Caspeen did -- perhaps there is a particular item that you both have which is causing the bug? Anything else that your wizards have in common could help with troubleshooting.

I am still having the same issues as Casp is having.. I am also seeing this trying to catch the Rhino Fish in Zafaria. Which, I believed I shared this once before.

I had started my own thread before I was directed to this one.

I had the same problems with Khrysalis fish getting away, and not just the Butterfly Shrimp. I waited until a zero-energy benefit weekend, moved to an empty realm, and spammed Winnow Rank 3, Winnow School and Banish Sentinel 2 until I had them all. I also actually reduced my luck, thinking maybe a higher rating was somehow hurting me rather than helping. Although still difficult to find, with unlimited spells I eventually caught them all on all seven of my wizards, and the number that got away seemed to be less as well.

I still don't like how it's easier to catch an Epic or Rare fish than it is a Khrysalis "common". It's the same feeling I get when I walk in the Bazaar and see 100 of a crafted item sold from packs, that took me hours of farming to collect reagents for.

KI has done it to me again - yesterday's Fish of the Day was of course the Butterfly Shrimp and yaddy yaddy yadda - my daily fishing bonus has been reset.

I will say that I didn't put as much into getting this fish as I had last time around - only 7 fails. Given that last time I had 57 fish get away before "lucky #58", it just wasn't worth my time or wasted energy to tilt at this windmill.

Regardless of what KI says, there is something wrong with this fish - the math just doesn't add up! With 105% fishing bonus it should be impossible to NOT catch a fish, and yet I have failed over, and over, and over....

Lame.
