Sharpening/Blending Wizard Renders: is it worth it?

Hello! I was attempting to make a signature lately when I ran across an idea: how would my wizard look if I sharpened it?
I just attempted a little sharpening on GIMP and even colored in my eyes/nose a tad more. The left wizard is the sharpened/colored wizard, while the right is the original, classic wizard.

I like how I eliminated some of the graininess of the render; however, I'm not sure which wizard looks better. I kinda changed the nose and lips a bit, so I'm not sure if my edited wizard actually looks like it's from Wizard101.

I would appreciate any critiques and, most importantly, your opinions as to whether or not sharpening a wizard render is worth while. Thanks!

I prefer the wizard on the right. While the edited wizard is very similar, it looks slightly out of focus to me. Interesting project though, I can;t wait to see where this will lead!
