Re: Is Central a good representation of W101 players?

Honestly, no. Perhaps it was back in the day but these days with other social media sites the 101 Central sites kinda pale in comparison. Yes the strict rules here and fairly consistent mods help keep out trolls and other troublemakers since people don't like being moderated, and I won't deny that there are helpful guides here as well, but the no outside link policy also greatly limits the amount of help and info people can receive, so it's a double-edged sword. It also doesn't help that it feels like at least to me that requests for help or reviews here can often go ignored if you're not popular enough, which I realize isn't exclusive to these sites but still.

Overall I feel like the 101 Central fansites are a product of the times. While the strict rules helped foster helpful sites, as more social media sites have popped up and people have moved to them it makes sites like these feel outdated and stifiling if that makes sense.

who is best wasnt the question tho. it was Do you think Central represents a good cross-section of the W101 populace? and spellbinder said her opinon.

i like it here and find it helpful and frendly but its not covering everyone in wizard imo cos loads of players dont even use sites at all specally the young kids but same for old players cos they go to the game and dont look for info out of it. thats why i like the kiosks to help in game for hatch and team ups ect cos they help all the players not just people what found a site.

central is a good place to chat and get help and talk bout wiz ect and i tell other wizards bout it cos i got lots of ideas and learn lots from here

Re: Is Central a good representation of W101 players?

I was warned about how strict this forum is. I couldn’t even recommend an anime to someone. That aside, the responses differ and seem to originate from long time members of this forum with lots of posts under their belts. With the longevity of the members taken into consideration I would listen to their perspective on W101 issues with interest. It may not be a good “cross-section” but the members here have watched the changes throughout the years and it looks as though they have been active participants in providing information or rather feedback to W101.

I can't answer that because of forum rules and you know it.

Central used to represent w101 well, but now really only represents the soapbox portion of the community with the long winded posts and a less capable population who rather complain than problem solve with an expectation for KI to coddle and protect them from things the central player finds a 'danger to society'.

There are better places for decorators to go.
Did you see the house with the glitch made dragon that rises from the lake here? Or the launching rocketship? What about the giant robot made with castle blocks and towers?

There are better places to go to get battle strategies for complex bosses.
Did you see the 4 round strategies for the new bosses here? Did you see the best level 130 gear setups for each school that give options for crit heavy, damage heavy or heal strong?

There are better places to post about things people find exciting in the game too.
Will you see the many group pictures posted for all the upcoming Thanksgiving day events? Did you even know that there ARE Thanksgiving day events and gatherings planned??

I do hope that it can return to its former glory one day...

Re: Is Central a good representation of W101 players?

As you can see, many "older" players here(been here 11 years myself) will have insight and or know of hard bosses and can provide internal links(miss the old contributors though). This is one of the older sites for Wizzy but locked down for a reason. It is the central site for all that is Wizard101, not Naruto, not Deathnote, not DBZ, not even the dying Pirate101. I am not defending anything but common sense.

I have personally left the game twice for various reasons but Central has gracefully allowed me back.

Someone once told me you have to "be a friend to become a friend"

Let's just say I am trying that out.

      My kind of crazy

i think this was more on the level of age range ,experience range and general mentality of the game. most of the people on my friends list especially my balance and death wizard are not here. if anyone on is my friendslist it was from meetups . and most people do not use any guides at all. they depend upon ingame knowledge. actually that was my first way of learning.no one said go to central or some other media site. and this is the way MOST players learn about the game. i first heard of Waterworks gear from ingame not from a site. one of the major reasons there was so much clash between menu chat players and non-menu chat players

central is a good place to chat and get help and talk bout wiz ect and i tell other wizards bout it cos i got lots of ideas and learn lots from here

I would say that it is although I think that there are more experienced players here than in the game.

Re: Is Central a good representation of W101 players?

once upon a time, yes. nowadays, no.

i will be honest and won't sugar coat my words here. central was great years ago. i would look forward to logging in daily and chatting with friends, getting newest info on wiz, etc. now? it represents the spoiled entitled individuals who throw tantrums everytime ki do something remotely out of their expectations. while it certainly isn't everyone, but most of the threads i see recently are complaints, ki bashing, negativity in general. and honestly it has turned me away from this site. just about every other wiz community thinks central is a joke. i use to not believe them. but now? i see where they are coming from. especially since alot of the players who contributed actual strategy and tips to this forum has left as well due to all these recent drama.

      Central specifically?

Uh, I generally pop in and out when it's convenient, but this ain't my home base for all things Wizard anymore. This is just a place to make my thoughts known, and challenge me to phrase it in a specific way.

I think this last part hits the nail on the head. I censor myself heavily here and in-game because I, myself, am not a particularly family friendly person in multiple ways (My wizards are 3 boys and 4 girls for a reason). Here, I'm a complete underrepresentation of myself.

@ OP: Generally speaking, you're more likely to get a better cross section of players on their social media. Those replying or participating in an ongoing game discussion tend to be the better option of cross sectionalism, and in a way that isn't contingent on separation of their identity in such a "family friendly" way.
