      Number pattern question

I know this is a bit strange, but when the game for 'catch the key' comes up for the silver chests there's usually some pattern to the numbers (at least, when they aren't all the same one). They might be all odd numbers (1, 3, 5, 7, 9), all even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8, 0), or even the Fibonacci sequence (1, 2, 3, 5, 8). But there's one sequence that comes up that I can't figure out: 2, 7, 1, 8, 2. Now, I know it could be random, but there's never any other sort of odd random pattern, so I am assuming that the pattern means something. The problem is, I don't know what! If it were 8675309 (well, the first or last five anyway), I'd get the reference.

So, does anyone know (or can anyone give a good guess) what 27182 is referring to?

Those are the first few digits of Euler's constant.

      Re: Number pattern question

If you want to be technical, it's usually called "Euler's number" (or really most of the time it's referred to as 'e'). Euler's constant usually means the Euler-Mascheroni constant (apparently 0.57722).

If you want to be really technical, the sequence should be 27183, because it would round up (2.78128 rounds up to 2.7813).
