There are three days out of 15 where you have a shot at something "worthwhile." SIX TIMES A MONTH! Over time, you're sure to hit your own personal jackpot (unless you choose not to participate).
These rewards are completely random and cost only a few moments of your time.![]()
Well there's where we disagree. Depending on how crowded the loot table is, the rate for any given item is likely minuscule. If you've farmed for pierce jewels, this is exactly the same problem. How many bad rolls does it take for someone to just give up and go find a better use of their time?

I haven't farmed for any particular jewels.I use jewels I craft or get dropped for me.
If there is only ONE item out of a million that would make this activity worthwhile for someone, I guess then maybe they won't choose to do the daily assignments. But then they wouldn't get the free arena tickets, or the free crowns, either. It is all a choice.
Aren't there a few items that would be a nice surprise? Isn't there any reason to look on the bright side rather than the dismal?

I don't personally care what comes out of the chests. I lost all motivation to get top gear a long time ago. It's just too much work. And that's been freeing. I no longer spend hours in the game farming, large sums of $$ on packs, etc. And in general, I think the daily assignments idea is terrific. The entire update was a huge step forward for KI (I think, we'll see if they keep going). But this is like telling someone to just enjoy the beautiful wedding gown and pay no attention to the black ink spot on it.
My point was on the game design side. KI's lack of insight into motivational theory continues to frustrate me. We can all cheer lead as much as we we want. But I think you've played the game long enough to understand when Player A sees Player B get full Mali gear in 3 runs and they're on run 64 still trying for boots ... it's demotivating. When someone gets their Morganthe amulet on their quest run and you've racked up 1,000 "victories" and nada ... it's demotivating.
There are better ways of managing these rates and variation that KI bothers with. I just wish they'd put some effort into it. Their PhD Econ was a pure academic and left in January. Hopefully they backfill him with someone with industry experience to move them forward. The prior guy surely didn't do it.

Exactly!
Personally, I think these rewards are nicer than much of the hoard pack stuff. I like surprises, especially when I don't have to pay crowns for them. This is certainly less time-consuming than fishing for chests or farming for drops.
And it's kind of nice that all those areas I paid for with crowns are getting some use again.![]()
Life got a Bright Blue Silk Kimono, Ice got a White Teleporter, Death got a King Parsley, Myth got an Armor Piercer opal and Balance got a Pain Bringer Opal. WOO!

Got a mote of transport!
This is only the first pass; I would expect there to be a ton more chances for everyone to get something they like.
One man's junk is another man's treasure and vice versa, anyway. The Mote of Eternity will do me no good as I don't have Castle Darkmoor; wish I could give it to someone who needs it.
