      PvP Housing Options: A Fix to the Turn-Based System

      TL;DR, skip to the Blue Part for the important stuff

      *Please note: This system will not touch other aspects of the game, such as questing or the ranked arena. It will only be an addition to the arena found in bundle houses or the crafted Celestian House.*

      In writing this, I will hope to fix the largest of all of Wizard101’s PvP flaws:
      The turn-based system.

      I tried to make this thread as easy-to-read as possible, so that both advanced players and newcomers will be able to understand our current PvP flaws and how they can be fixed.

      My Proposal

      • A kiosk will be placed next to a housing arena ring.
        - This includes bundle houses and the CL crafted house
        - This can also be added to the open Avalon arena
      • With this kiosk, there will be options to change the arena’s system.


      "How will the kiosk function?"

      • The menu would be similar to the purchased minigames, such as the tag game.
        - One of these options will be the turn-based system, to be explained
        - Many other options can be included, such as:
        >Various Central ideas, such as Carlitos’ Thunderdoom
        >Adjustable stat restrictions
        >The various KI tournament ideas that are currently only available in the payment of crowns
        >And many more ideas!!!
        - This can even open up for options such as 2v4, 1v2, etc.


      "Why change the turn-based system?"

      • Currently, our system functions as so:
        - Both players select their cards at the same 30-seconds time frame
        - Both players see two animations occur from their selections.
        - As a result, the second person is at a disadvantage
        >The second person is blindly guessing the first person’s choice
        >The first person can shield right before an attack
        >If the second person shields, then the first person can react to it


      "How will this new turn-based system work?"

      • This system will give each person a 15-second time frame
        - ONLY the first person sees their cards and makes a selection.
        >An animation accompanies his selection
        - Now, ONLY the second person sees their cards and makes a selection.
        >An animation accompanies the second person’s selection
        - This system repeats, with only one person picking at a time.


      "I don’t understand! :( I NEED EXPLAINATION!!"

      • Here is an example. This will be a battle between Person A (a life wizard) and Person B (a fire wizard), where Person A is going first and Person B is going second.
        - Round 1: Person A uses a Tower Shield
        - Round 2: Person B notices that he does not want to waste pips on weakened attack. As a result, he uses a Wand Attack to remove the shield.
        - Round 3: Person A uses Infection to put offensive pressure, while gaining pips.
        - Round 4: Person B sees the move, and uses Link to remove the Infection.
        - Round 5: Person A uses Triage to remove the Damage Over Time
        - Round 6: Person B uses Krampus, noticing that DoT attacks will be unreliable against a person who has an abundant supply of Triage
      • As such, each person will have a chance to react to the other person’s movements immediately after the opposing person’s choice.


      "But…won’t this ruin ranked PvP???"

      • To reiterate the notice in the beginning of the thread:
        - This will ONLY be an option in the housing arena rings
        - Questing, ranked PvP, practice PvP, KI tournaments will not be affected
        - The housing arena changes will not be FORCED; it will be an adjustable OPTION.
        - Your warlord ranks will stay put. Don’t worry.


      "So…Who does this benefit?"

      • PvP enthusiasts
        - We will final be able to get an even playing ground, where the winner is not determined by the arrow at the beginning of the game
      • Central Tournaments
        - There will be substantially less wins that are determined by luck
        - We can finally measure people by their PvP capabilities
      • KINGSISLE
        - This idea can be financially beneficial to you from the bundle purchases!! $$$
        - You will have happy customers that will ENJOY PvP


      I truly hope that you will consider this change, Kingsisle. It will solve so many problems that began since the eve of PvP.
      It will only be an option, so those who do not like this change will be unaffected.

      Hopefully in the future we can see some substantial changes to pvp. Starting with the turn based system would be an excellent start amongst other things.

      Doesn't this just give advantage to the second player? For example player 1 hits, player 2 can not shield, whereas if player one shielded player 2 would know this before selecting their cards.

      I'll try to explain it in a different way.

      Player 1 selects a shield
      An animation is seen so that everyone sees the card
      Player 2 selects a wand attack, trying to remove the shield
      An animation is seen so that everyone sees the card
      Player 1 knows that he is defenseless, so he shields again.
      An animation is shown.

      There is no advantage to either side, except for the fact that Player 1 is ahead by a single turn.
      Player 2 sees the first move, and reacts accordingly.
      Player 1 would, as a result, see Player 2's move, and react accordingly.

      Imagine it as a chess or checkers game. One person moves, then the next person moves, etc.
      In our currently system, both move at the same time. That leaves one person to become blind to the first person.

      There will be a "break point" between each person's moves, so that only one person selects a card at a time.

      I think you've misunderstood the system here:

      Player 1 selects the card efreet
      An animation is shown of the efreet.
      ONLY THEN is player 2 able to select his card.
      Luckily, player 2 is able to use Satyr, knowing that no infections are on him.

      The point is, the animation is shown, AND THEN the following person selects a card.

      1. Player 1 selects a card; Player 2 stays idle
      2. Animation of player 1, and does its effects
      3. Player 2 selects a card; Player 1 stays idle
      4. Animation of player 2, and does its effects
      This process repeats.

      Our current system works like this:
      Player 1 AND 2 selects a card
      Animation of player 1, AND THEN animation of player 2.

      This is why it is flawed. Player 1 will always be ahead of the game.

      Each person would be "disadvantaged" every time they play a card. Each player gets to see what they are hitting into. This is what most turn based games do, except for W101.

      I believe life wizards would be the only school with a advantage from second with this, but this is still a really cool idea.
