do you like the way the pet system is?

i am asking just out of curiosity. i can kinda go both ways w/ this question. on one hand when a new pet is made, i feel as though i have "earned" the success and i love the feeling when hard work pays off. on the other hand, pets can really be a struggle, especially for those just starting out. they can seem IMPOSSIBLE and at times it seems like we have to work 10x harder than we need to.

      anyways, what are your thoughts?

When I first started out, omg I had the worst time in getting the pet and talents I want. I still have a hard time with certain things, but at the end it is so worth it. I do wish that we would either get exp on the snacks or energy cost was a little lower.

i don't mind it. yes it takes time and effort. even research if you don't want to waste snacks as learning the talent pool can help you decide whether a pet is worth training at all. but in the end it's worth it. because your efforts will pay off if you keep trying and don't give up. though i do wish there were more interesting games to level up pets. half the struggle is not being bored half to death leveling a pet.

i agree for the most part. i love being like wahoo i just finished a pet project. though i do wish there were more guides out there for people who aren't to experienced at hatching (like me XD).

Re: do you like the way the pet system is?

The cost of leveling past adult is prohibitive for newer players. One way they could offset the cost of leveling a pet for low level wiz, is to give decent snacks (rank 8) as quest rewards along the way.

This way, low level wiz could get a big boost to early pet training, but having the snacks be a one-time quest reward thing keeps players looking for better ways to obtain snacks (gardening and pvp) rather than just farming low-level areas.

The exception of course is Mirror Lake.

Higher-level dungeons probably SHOULD have some form of repeat incentive besides the occasional elegant hat or holiday wand. Pixie Stix are nice snacks, but not so powerful or plentiful that they obsolete gardening.

One of the biggest predictors of future spending is "Does this wiz train their pet or hatch?" And the best time to showcase the potential for hatching, training, and working on pets is as early as possible. Even as I was finishing MB, I didn't even think about pets. I had my plague ninja that I got in someone's Pagoda, I had trained it up and gotten death-shot and death-proof. I was very lucky to get 2 useful talents out of it. But as I was running Big Ben, I noticed other people's pets were doing INTERESTING THINGS.

Too bad there is no realistic or sustainable way for a level 33 to get rank 8 snacks to train an Interesting Pet past adult. It was a heroic effort just to get that ninja to ancient.

Yes, I'm thinking lower level dungeons in the spiral, and not just pagoda and bane, should have a small trickle of rank 8 mega snacks as either drops or rewards.

Weighting system: It is endlessly frustrating for a fail talent, one that's been quiescent for 56 generations, to suddenly manifest at mega in an otherwise carefully vetted and bred pet. If both parents have a talent, there should be heavier weight put on those than on Thinkin' Cap or Power Taker or whatever it is you're trying desperately to avoid. I've heard that leveling a pet to mega does not follow the usual rules of talent dominance because of a coding issue dating back to when Mega was added.

This needs fixed (finally) and talents SHOULD be reinforced or suppressed as expected. The talent dominance should be MORE RESPONSIVE to deliberate attempts to reinforce it!
Angel's dad pulled the last box out of the closet, the one with Shoes of Pain and Fear printed in faded Gothic letters across it. Angel tried them on. In fact, they were snug and comfy, and not even a little bit scary.

I am good with the current pet system even though it is a bit difficult and frustrating sometimes but hey, anything worth getting is worth working for.

Re: do you like the way the pet system is?

I'd like Mega to not take so long.

I have an older account with a small EMP garden, and a new one without. I really notice the difference between the two, and had forgotten how hard it is for people just starting out to build a decent pet. Still not there yet, and I gave up and purchased a couple of EMP's for the new account.

Another idea would be to give a choice between two talents, when you level up.

Breeding for Derby is very difficult for me, as my pets tend to have eliminated and reduced the occurrence of selfish talents.
If there was a choice between two available talents it would make things a little neater.

I'm not great with pets and it is time consuming but I know if you get the right one it's all worth it in the end.

i agree. i think the best non-growns plant for food are PBC's. while they aren't in the 40+ range for snacks, they are still a leg up compared to the little snacks like golden pizza. there was a time when i would just go to the bazaar and purchase shanta pudding for training because i didn't know about gardening, and man that took forever. i'm not too sure about the talents thing though, i feel like that would make it too easy. maybe choosing the right pet back though for a higher gold cost or something would be nice.

Its not perfect but it sure is enjoyable. When i first started out i loved to play the Grumpy Gobbler game, even now the feeling of making a pet to mega is just something. But the difference between the non-EMP trainers and EMP trainers is huge. But it still is enjoyable.
